This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hutchinson, Blackington Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AFB.2ACE/1837.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Betty, We have corresponded previously about your Thomas Hutchinson and his possible relationship to my ancestor, Richard Hutchinson, of Salem, Mass. In Cutter's book, Thomas who married Betsy Blackington does not appear to be a descendant of Richard, but of another Hutchinson line in Charlestown, Mass--possibly George. You've seen this before, here is what I have about this Thomas' father (also Thomas) on my Web site for Richard: ---- There is no firm evidence that Thomas is the son of John Hutchinson of Salem. I have presumed that Thomas was the John's son for the following reasons: - An "elder brother" of Nehemiah Hutchinson of Litchfield, Maine granted Nehemiah administration of his father's estate, presumably because the "elder brother" had moved elsewhere. Thomas was born about a year before Nehemiah and lived in Andover, Mass., about 150 miles from Litchfield. - Thomas named one of his sons Ebenezer, a name used by other Hutchinson families in Richard's line who were contemporary with Thomas. - In 1779, John's son Nehemiah bought property in Francestown from William Campbell. Thomas' son Charles Frye Hutchinson moved to Francestown about the year 1809. ---- I am now trying to get access to Thomas Bellows Wyman's book, _The genealogies and estates of Charlestown_, that is referred to by Cutter so that I can try to sort things out. Have you seen the Wyman book? If not, I will order a microfilm copy of it from the LDS Family History Library. Thanks, Dave.
