    1. Wellington station in Malden
    2. Hi - would anyone know why this station was named Wellington? I am interested in Edward Wellington, born circa 1862 in Malden MA. He was a produce and milk and egg wholesaler. He married Charlotte Hezlitt born 1862 in Cambridge. Their children were Marion born circa 1890, Hastings born circa 1893 and Catherine born circa 1903. Any tie between the naming of Wellington station and this family would be interesting to me. thanks Kathy Montgomery Victoria, BC

    3. There is also 'Wellington Circle' in this area. Must be a person of reknown. Try contacting a library in Medford or Malden. Or maybe a note of inquiry to the town hall. 3. Hi again, I e-mailed the Reference Dept. at the Medford Library, and just received a response: Hello- the director forwarded me you question about Wellington Circle. The Wellington area of Medford is named after two brothers - James and Isaac Wellington, who bought large tracts of farmland in that area in 1819. They were very influential, and at one point donated land to the Boston and Maine railroad on the condition that all Medford trains should stop at Wellington. They began to divide up the farmland and sell house lots in that area in the 1850's. In 1874, when the Wellington Bridge and a new road to Boston were built the area developed very quickly. If you'd like any more info, we have a great book that is the scrapbook for the Wellington Improvement Association which has lots of information and pictures.
