I've "rescued" an old tin type photograph that is identified as that of Otis T. STEARNS. There is no studio or location indicated on the photograph so I've no idea where it might have originated from. The photograph was likely taken between 1880 and 1900 sometime with Otis appearing to be in his teens or 20's at the time. He appears to be wearing a double breasted white jacket almost like that which a chef would wear today. Based on limited research I was able to locate a possible match as follows: Otis Thayer STEARNS b. 9 Dec 1872 in Hopkinton, MA to parents Lucinda GRANDY (b. 6 Jul 1831 in Warren, VT) and Gilbert Alanson STEARNS (b. Hopkinton, MA). The couple had 9 children including Frank Gilbert; Arba Bates; Allie May; Alanson Banks; Loton Grant; Fred Lincoln; Arba Grant; Otis Thayer; and Archie Carl STEARNS all born in Upton or Hopkinton, MA between 1856 and 1875. Census records provide the following information: 1910 census of Waltham, MA: Otis T. STEARNS, age 39, married 12 years, born MA, parents born MA/VT, a Store Manager Jessie E. STEARNS, wife, age 36, married 12 years, 2 children/2 living, born MA, parents born MA Elton O. STEARNS, son, age 8, born MA Ruth M. STEARNS, dau, age 3, born MA + 1 lodger I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family.
