He is John James O'Connor, born 15 April 1911, died Feb 1983, a resident of Malden MA. the son of James Charles O'Connor and Lillian Agnes Gabriel. O'Connor of North Cambridge, a teacher at Woburn High School the last 20 years, and a Cambridge official and church leader, died of cancer Saturday in New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston. He was 56. Mr. O'Connor was a member of the Cambridge Planning Board at the time of his death, and was a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 269 in Cambridge; past president of St. John's Holy Name Society, and a past president of the parish council in St. John's Church where his funeral Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Born in Cambridge where he lived all his life, Mr. O'Connor was a graduate of the old St. John's High School and of Boston College, Class of 1955. During World War II he was a sergeant in the Army. He leaves his wife, Rita (Tierney) O'Connor, and a son, Michael O'Connor, both of North Cambridge; four daughters, Mary Ann MacDonald of Somerville, Michele Boyle of Quincy, and Maureen and Marilyn O'Connor, both of North Cambridge; two sisters, Mary Steen of Cambridge and Margaret Oldfeld of Milton. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Arlington.
