I have run into a couple of people lately who have macs and want to know what kind of genealogy software to get. Can anyone recommend one? Jacqueline Sleeper Russell _http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=jacquelinesr_ (http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=jacquelinesr)
I got a MAC for Christmas (and run XP on my Alienware PC......which did *not* need to be replaced! LOL) So I have *both* platforms. I have been doing my Genealogy on my PC as it has my old Family Tree Maker and I just updated my copy of Legacy so that I could go thru my Family File and clean up my Locations and Sources in the hopes of Exporting the File to the MAC. I have found one Genealogy program called MacFamilyTree which has a lot of 3D graphics and is amazingly cool. Dunno how hard it is going to be to learn, though. I hear excellent reveiws on Reunions which is THE top-rated Genealogy app for MAC. It is $99.95 so I have not tried that one yet, but imagine I will, in the end. Try the MacTamily Tree and see if you like it. It is very different from anythig I have ever had on my PC. If you don't like that, I would suggest Reunions if you want to put out the mony. I think MacFamilyTree was betwen $39 and $59 or so... Good luck. I have been Googling for a good Genealogy app for my MAC ever since Christmas and these are the two best I have found. Let me know if you find anything else that you like. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jackisr@aol.com> To: <mamiddle-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 7:56 AM Subject: [MAMiddle] OT - is anyone on list using a mac and using genealogysoftware they like? >I have run into a couple of people lately who have macs and want to know > what kind of genealogy software to get. I'm using MacFamily Tree and so therefore am hesitant to recommend it for real Mac People. I have heard good things about Roots Magic.
