Hello, I've decided to try harder this new year to get one of my KERR, male, relatives to participate in a "DNA test." Many, many people in Canada and the US are trying to find out the origins of a KERR / HENDERSON family-group which arrived in Canada in the 1820's. They had well over 40 children between them, and thus have many descendants. And, none of us can find out who their parents were back in - Ireland. My mother worked on our family-tree in the 1970's, and she wrote up a basic description of her great-grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth (HENDERSON) KERR, and their descendants. They were born in Canada in 1827, and came down to MA, probably in 1880's. Four out of their 5 children came down to MA, also. Their oldest was William KERR who married near Boston to Elizabeth HANNAH. Their youngest 2 sons married near Boston and then moved to Washington State. They never had children. So, Robert and Eliza KERR only had descendants through their son, William. William and Elizabeth had 6 children / 3 sons, but their middle son died at 18 and never got a chance to marry. I am descended from their youngest son. I had found a descendant of their oldest son, Joseph, a few years ago. She responded to my letter and told me one brother had passed and the other brother lived in Maine. I just found his address and will be mailing a letter to him tomorrow. Joseph and Minnie (PETERSON) KERR had 4 children / 3 sons. My mother was able to find out some information on the youngest son, Fred KERR; he and his wife, Emma, always lived in Everett, MA. But she was not able to find information on the 2 older sons. She believes Arthur KERR had one child, but she did not know whether it was a son or daughter. The 2nd son, Kenneth KERR, had 4 children / one son, Kenneth, Jr. But she was not able to find out anything about him. (These children would have been born in the 1900-1920 timeframe.) I was wondering if anyone knew of the Arthur KERR family or the Kenneth KERR family, which would have been based in the Everett and Malden area. Of the male descendants of Robert and Eliza KERR (from Canada), so far, I only have one male cousin, one uncle, who is mostly estranged from the family, and the "distant cousin" in Maine. So, I'm curious if there is another male descendant. I've been chatting with other KERR researchers about DNA, and it has been strongly recommended that I use this site. But, I should use the CARR group instead of the KERR group. https://www.familytreedna.com/Default.aspx?c=1 Betty (near Lowell, MA) (Next year I will try to get a male relative with the LEWIS name to do a DNA test. That would be the only other surname I would want to make connections with.)
