Hello Listers:- < dougvbrown calling from MA > 1.---County/City/Town Clerk's say-so VR report copy(s) are merely hearsay until.stamped with the clerk's unique OFFICIAL SEAL.... 2.----All Clerk's VR reports placed into closed stacks for 70 t0 100 yrs then to open stacks for public domain use. 3.----According to an official govt study of people in all age groups the memory of a given event date became blurry after 5 days , and some remembered events that never happened, etc. therefore it was and is now govt rule that an event date with a record date within 5 days of the event date, is a primary source and after that a secondary source 4. ---the new birth and death documents have places for parents names where on the 1630 to 1730 VR's copys it is typed " NOT RECORDED" which means on that particular hearsay record 5.- The Town Clerk's hearsay birth and death reports aid the town in providing community services and the head counts are Vital Statistics Records People had a difficult time pronouncing let alone spelling statistics ,so it became Vital Records 6.--- In searching early Middlesex Co. Records (1630-1730 ) expect nothing and never be disappointed.
