Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. Someone on one of the Lists for England just asked for help with the 1880 census about the family that the actor, W. C. Fields," came from. His original surname was DUKENFIELDS and I looked it up. The family was in PA from ~1860 (or before) and were there till past 1910. I found some web pages offering a biography of W. C. Fields, and one of them said that his father, James DUKENFIELDS, fought in the Civil War and was injured. James had been born in England, and one sight said that his family migrated to PA when he was a teen.
