Paul Revere m 2, 23 Sept 1773, Boston Rachel Walker, b 29 Dec 1749 Boston - do Richard and Rachel Carlile/Carley(?) Walker, do John and Hannah Moore* Carlile/Carley(?) of York, ME, so Joseph and Rachel Main Preble Carlile/Carley(?) of York, ME Is it possible that the above mentioned Joseph Carlile could have been the son of Capt. Henry and Elizabeth White Kerly who were living in Lancaster, MA until 1676 when his mother and brother William were killed in the Indian Massacre in Feb. of that year? Joseph's half sister Mercy later married Joseph Rice of Marlborough in 1708, Joseph's grandfather William Kerly, Sr married a second wife, Bridget Broadstreet Rowlandson and a third wife, Rebecca Jude Joselin before his death in Lancaster in 1670. If Joseph is indeed the son of Capt. Henry and Elizabeth White Kerley, he would have been a half brother to Capt. Henry and his second wife, Elizabeth Ward Kerley's son William, who married Mary Bowden, daughter of John and Grace Bully Bowden and granddaughter of Capt. Ambrose and Marie Lethebridge Bowden, one of the founders of Saco, ME. *Moore family history - JOSEPH E. MOORE was born in Lisbon, Me., March 14, 1841. His father was Joseph Moore, a a native of Parsonsfleld, York County. His great-grandfather, John Moore, came to this country in the early part of the eighteenth century, married Miss Boothbay at Saco, and lived at Kittery and other towns in York County, and with his son Dennis was killed in the French and Indian War. His grandfather, also named John Moore, was a Revolutionary soldier from Scarborough, enlisting January 1, 1776, and afterwards settled in Parsonsfield. His mother was Ann B. Pierce, of Durham, Me., a descendant of Michael Pierce, who came to Hingham, Mass., in 1646, and settled afterward in Scituate, was a noted Indian fighter, "a captain of great bravery," and was killed, with most of his men, in Philip's War. He was a brother of Capt. William Pierce, who came earlier, as master of the "Paragon," in 1622, and in 1623 be brought to Plymouth the "Anne," in 1624 the "Charity," in 1625 the "Jacob," in 1629 the "Mayflower," and the "Lion" several trips; and in 1639 published "Pierce's Almanack," the first in book form published in the colonies. Mr. Moore is descended on both sides from a sturdy stock, who participated actively in the settlement and development of this county. (Kerlys were in Hingham in 1637 prior to settling in Sudbury in 1640 --) Does anyone have any information to shed on Joseph Carlile/Carley/Kerley's ancestry? He also had a brother Bartholomew whose descendants are found in northern MA and southern ME using the Carlile spelling.

Surnames: MONGOVEN, MONGOVAN, MUNGOVEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AFB.2ACE/1745 Message Board Post: Would somebody with access to the Marriage Records for Lowell, MA, for the years 1860-1862 please help me? I am hyptothesizing that MARGARET MONGOVEN (Mungovan/Mongovan, etc.), immigrant from Ireland, was married at Lowell, sometime circa 1861. However, I do not know her husband's name. She had three children by him, two of them born in MA (Mary, b. Feb 1862...perhaps in Lowell???...and Catherine, b. circa 1864, likely in Lowell, too). Perhaps the Birth Records for Lowell for Feb 1862 could be searched for a girl named Mary, whose mother was Margaret. I have located her in the 1860 U.S. Census (misspelled as Margaret Mangaren) as a 20-year-old Irish servant, living in the home of William and Ursula Burroughs in Lowell. I would so greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you. Sincerely, Jan Mongoven
