    3. Hello I wonder if someone could check and see if they could find either a Birth or Death Record for me. The name as it was written on the 1880 Census is Maggie ROLAND. I think that she was born either 1862 or 1863. After the 1880 census she disappears, no one seems to know where. The family name as most did has various spellings(these are the main ones that I have found: ROMAN RONAN RONEN RONIN ROMAINE ROWAN ROHAN Thank you in advance for your help and I am hopeful that someone can help find her. Most Sincerely Peggy

I found my great grandfather in 1930 census with an entirely differnt first name. no room for mistaken trancscription either as his name was Herbert and they enumerated him as Edward!!! Only reason i knew it was the right family was that I knew their address and of course the childrens names. Hope this will help some Danielle

    2. John Slaughter
    3. Good morning, everyone. :-) At the time I took over the list, AOL was bouncing virtually everything. The list software allows me to specify the number of times that an address can bounce before it is automatically removed. I changed it to the maximum of 16. Things are much quieter now. But, we are getting bounces from people who have discontinued their service or have full mail boxes. This is a reminder to you that when you change e-mail addresses you need to unsubscribe your old address. To do that, send an e-mail to MAMiddle-L-request@rootsweb.com with the word unsubscribe in the subject and body. Notice that it is practically the same address you use for posting a message. Just add -request after the L. Also, if you are going on vacation or going to be away from your computer long enough that your mailbox will be full, please unsubscribe. That said, I am resetting the automatic removal to 3. This is the default. Thank you and have a great weekend. :-) John In loving memory of our son, Brennan. 11/10/88-5/31/01. http://john-slaughter.rootsweb.com/Brennan.html MA-Bay-Colony list moderator USGenWeb County Coordinator Essex County, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~maessex Middlesex County, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~mamiddle USGenWeb Town Coordinator Ipswich, Essex, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~macipswi _________________________________________________________________ Don’t just search. 3. > The death benefit is only paid to a surviving spouse. I would question >that it would be necessary for inclusion... I don't know what all is required to claim the death benefit, but it isn't limited to a surviving spouse. When my brother died of a heart attack in '94, my mother applied for the death benefit and had it applied to the funeral home costs. This is one of those cases where you need to think of variations on how a name might be submitted to SSA. My brother always went by Jim and then James. His name on his SS card was James M. Slaughter. On the SSDI he is listed as J M Slaughter. It wasn't until I found the SSDI at Rootsweb, with its advance search capability, that I was able to find him. I never thought of using just his initials.
