Hi Helen, and other researchers, The same goes for Billerica. It is such a large town, area-wise, and it has so many "waterways" in it, that each part of town was and is known for the different parts of the town - heading away from "the Center." Some of the names which we still use are "North Billerica," "West Billerica," East Billerica," "South Billerica" (which is the Concord Road area and not near the Burlington line), and then "Pinehurst" and "Nutting's Lake," etc. And, each of the "summer resort" areas of the town from the 1940's and 1950's had their own names: "Ranlett Cove," "Riverdale," and "Rio Vista," for example. And, in the early 1900's, there were at least two "trains" going through town, and sometimes the "neighborhoods" were known for the name of the "train station" located there ! And, some of the historical names were "the Corner" and "Pattenville." For all the above names, there is only one -- town -- Billerica ! It is 10 miles long and 10 miles wide, and has 2 rivers, one lake, and more than several ponds within its bounds ! Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. Chelmsford is about as large ! But, I haven't learned as much about this town ! I do know about "North Chelmsford" and "South Chelmsford" and "East Chelmsford," etc. Perhaps someone else could offer the other "summer resort" area names, as Chelmsford has the Merrimack River on one border, the Concord River on another border, Freeman Lake, Heart Pond, and more than several smaller ponds within its bounds ! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Helen Ware" <helenware@comcast.net> To: <MAMIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 21, 2006 8:31 PM Subject: Re: [MAMiddle] OT Waterford, MA., was located in Worcester County, MA >I have lived in this area and never in my 64 years heard any part of >Blackstone called Waterford--so perhaps like many small areas of towns that >had nicknames it has gone by! > I had ancestors born in Partridge Field, Ma. and it took me quite a few > years to locate where that was! > Records state my great-aunt was burned in Hayward Field and died the next > day--in 1901--it is just an area in the town of Milford. > Old towns had lots of areas in them with various names especially here in > this area of Massachusetts. > Helen > > ______________________________

Did you find information about your "Hart" family? I don't know if she lived in Reading or not, when when I attended Reading Memoril High in the 1950's there was a teacher there named Miss Hart. Don't know much else. But she at that time I would guessing estimated her to be at least 50,(so by now she is my estimate is right ) has died. Maybe someone else can find more information. Anyway just a thought. Good Luck with your searinging. Barbara

He is listed by himself but 4 house up there is an Ida Hurder (aunt) age 68 listed with another family, the writing is very difficult.. In the 1920 census the name is spelled Harder, on Pine St. Andrew, Ida, Jeanette and Howard. Maybe she was visiting the night of the census in 1930 and Ida was listed there. If I make it to Vital records soon I will look up his death. Cheryl
I have lived in this area and never in my 64 years heard any part of Blackstone called Waterford--so perhaps like many small areas of towns that had nicknames it has gone by! I had ancestors born in Partridge Field, Ma. and it took me quite a few years to locate where that was! Records state my great-aunt was burned in Hayward Field and died the next day--in 1901--it is just an area in the town of Milford. Old towns had lots of areas in them with various names especially here in this area of Massachusetts. Helen

I've come up with what I know is a hit for my grandfather and his father. The problem is i'm confused , I got my info from family and followed it by searching the 1901 census for Nova scotia. I found them, but they were not in the 1911 census, I know they did come to Massachusetts the year is vague. Family search.org has only led to more confusion, they have two Maurice Frazer, different birth dates married to Julia muese, to different birth dates. Now I need advice , other than an on-line search for the U.S. 1920 census, where can I go from here. Looking for George Henry Fraser born 1898
A book I have has two listings for Mitchellville. One says it's a section of Shirley and the other says it's a section of Ayer--both are in Middlesex Co. The book is DIRECTORY of Massachusetts Place names--1987
I have a book called DIRECTORY of MASSACHUSETTS PLACE NAMES copyright 1987 and it states that Waterford is a section of BLACKSTONE, in Worcester Co. If it was not longer a town, I think that would have been mentioned in the book.
According to the USGS, it is now in Worcester County. I know there is a census for 1930 that has him, however I can not access it. I think due to his age that he would have died sometime shortly after that. In 1930 he would have been approx 76 years old. He was originally from New Brunswick, and came into US in 1890 with children and wife Ida. Could someone please tell me if it is possible to find this info, or burial info if I dont have a date of death or solid location? Is there alook up page for this county taht might have this info? Thank you Lisa Coultrup
Hi Lisa I see a Andrew HURDER listed in the 1930 census at 82 Harvard St., Cambridge, MA. He was Male, White, 78 yrs of age, married at 20 years of age, born in Canada, as was his mother and father. Emigrated in 1891, Alien, and Retired. I happened to notice on the same page there was another person named Ida___ Hurder, at 81 Harvard St. White, Female, age 68, also from Canada, emigrated in 1897 Bill kentuckystorms@msn.com wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Hurder, Dobravolsky, Slater, Judd, Stafford, Fontanesi, Castignola, Coultrup > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AFB.2ACE/1783 > > Message Board Post: > > Hello > > I am trying to locate death info for one Andrew Hurder who resided in Middlesex Co, possibly Cambridge City.
