    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: WALKER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AFB.2ACE/1789.1 Message Board Post: There are no births in Suffolk County for Edward Walker in that time frame. There are two marriages for two different Edward Walkers in Suffolk County, one in 1875 and one in 1876. Expanding the search for all counties, births between 1872 and 1878, only one Edward Walker appears: 1872; Vol: 243; Page: 232; No. 3; Edward Joseph Walker, b. Aug 23d, Male, b. Boylston, parents Lyman S. and Harriet E. Walker, father was a farmer, father born in Barre, and mother born in Randolph, Ohio. Now there are some male Walkers born whose middle names were Edwin and Edgar. It is possible the child was nickname Ed, which was later interpreted to mean Edward. (Happened to my grandfather!) And there is one (Male) Walker born in Suffolk county in 1873. Vol: 252 ; Page: 135; No. 6038; June 21; b. 265 Athens; parents George & Jane; res. Boston; occ. of father Steampipe fitter, father b. Maine, mother b. Randolph. I would look at the 1880 census and see if you can find George and Jane, and see if they have a son Ed. In 1900, depending on the circumstances of his childhood, he may not be aware of the place his parents were born. Sorry there are no clear-cut answers here. Have you gone through the 1880 census looking for him? Have you sent away for his obituary or his death certificate? Have you obtained his marriage certificate? Those are all possible sources of parents' names. Good luck, Susan Daily

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: MORISON, VALENTINE, WILLIAMS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AFB.2ACE/1788 Message Board Post: We recently did some work on our house. When we removed the old walls in the living room, we found a small photograph of a woman encased in the framing of the house. Newspapers in the same wall date the photo to 1931. The 1930 census shows a VALENTINE family living in our house, with a wife Rose age 35. A little research revealed Rose to be Rose MORISON (b: 1894, d: 1982). Her parents were Charles H MORISON (b: c. 1870) and Alice WILLIAMS? (not sure about the maiden name) (b: c. 1869) of Pearl Street in Medford. She married Malcom VALENTINE (b: 1892, d: 1972). They had at least two children -- Malcom and Robert VALENTINE. The VALENTINE family lived in this house from some time between 1920 and 1930 until 1976, when Rose sold the house to the man who lived here before us. (It's amazing what 20 minutes of sleuthing will turn up.) Although it is small (like a big stamp) and damaged (a corner is missing), the photo is in otherwise good condition. We would love to return it to a more appropriate person. If you may be such a person, let me know and I'll send you a scanned image to verify the identification (and the photo if you end up wanting it). Of course, this photo may be someone else entirely, but this was my best guess. Kathy Mumma

    2. Joe Hardiman
    3. David Appleton Stevens was a member of the GAR. He served in the Union Army from his home state of Maine for 3 years. David, who was a retired Captain from the Cambridge Police Department, was killed in an automobile accident on October 2, 1919. His son-in-law, Michael McMahon, was driving the vehicle in which Captain Stevens was a passenger. A lookup of his obituary would be greatly appreciated. I have a letter written to Captain Stevens widow, Catherine Fitzgerald Goodin Stevens, declaring a period of 30 day mourning for his death. I also have an American flag with the words embossed on it: In Memoriam John A. Logan Post 186 GAR Cambridge, MA
