My father lived on Scott St. with his father Louis C Smith, he had a sister Mary, brother (Bibby), brother George. The rest of the relatives I am unsure of. My father John Francis Smith died @ age 24 by drowning and shortly there after I and the family had no contact, my mother kept me from really getting to know my relatives on my Fathers side. I am looking to re-establish contact or find out more about any of my fathers living relatives. Respectfully, Robert Smith

Hello, Thank you to Janice for posting the HUTCHINSON information ! A reminder is that my ancestor is Nathaniel HUTCHINSON (son of George). I'll read Janice's posting more closely later in the morning, but a reminder is that George's brother, Thomas HUTCHINSON, came over in 1630 with him, but died within a day of arriving. His widow remarried within a year or so, and they and her HUTCHINSON children moved to Essex County, I believe. (My genealogy-memory isn't working this morning !) Because it's a long-standing family in MA, I've never spent too much time in trying to summarize the descendants of George HUTCHINSON, and his only son, Nathaniel. But, I have also discovered that his extended family is not easily found on the Internet, either. I would love to see a simple outline of George's descendants (names only) so that I can use it as a reference guide ! I believe that George lived in the part of Charlestown, which first annexed off to become Woburn, and much later annexed off to become Winchester ! So, of the land which is now called, Winchester, the HUTCHINSON's lived there from the mid-1600's to the mid-1900's ! Betty (near Lowell, MA)

One of the things on my very long Genealogy-to-do-List is to type up a list of all of George HUTCHINSON's descendants - say down to the mid-1800's ! I think I have collected a lot of information over the past few years, but have never summarized it. If I have a quiet day in the spring or summer, I will dig out my old box of HUTCHINSON papers and look through it ! By the way, between my sister and I, we have a few, typed pages from probably our great-grandmother's sister on the HUTCHINSON's in Winchester. Nothing too detailed, and not going back too far ! But, it is interesting reading. Betty

HUTCHINSON, BENJAMIN, Salem vill. perhaps s. of Joseph, of wh. all I can find is the exploit of strik. at a spectre as in one of the witchcr. trials, 1692, was testif. EDWARD, Boston, s. of Susanna, a wid. (wh. came in May 1636 with John Wheelwright, and her d. Mary, his w.) but this s. came with w. Sarah, in 1633, prob. in the Griffin, hav. fellow-passeng. In Cutter's book, Thomas who married Betsy Blackington does not appear to be a descendant of Richard, but of another Hutchinson line in Charlestown, Mass--possibly George. You've seen this before, here is what I have about this Thomas' father (also Thomas) on my Web site for Richard: ---- There is no firm evidence that Thomas is the son of John Hutchinson of Salem. I have presumed that Thomas was the John's son for the following reasons: - An "elder brother" of Nehemiah Hutchinson of Litchfield, Maine granted Nehemiah administration of his father's estate, presumably because the "elder brother" had moved elsewhere. Thomas was born about a year before Nehemiah and lived in Andover, Mass., about 150 miles from Litchfield. - Thomas named one of his sons Ebenezer, a name used by other Hutchinson families in Richard's line who were contemporary with Thomas. - In 1779, John's son Nehemiah bought property in Francestown from William Campbell. Thomas' son Charles Frye Hutchinson moved to Francestown about the year 1809. ---- I am now trying to get access to Thomas Bellows Wyman's book, _The genealogies and estates of Charlestown_, that is referred to by Cutter so that I can try to sort things out. Have you seen the Wyman book? If not, I will order a microfilm copy of it from the LDS Family History Library. Thanks, Dave.

I cannot comment on the accuracy of the information in it ! But, I can say that the genealogy part of it is difficult to understand sometimes ! For instance, in the HUTCHINSON section, it lists a paragraph under .. 4. Thomas, son of John (2), and included in the paragraph is a statement on the Thomas HUTCHINSON who married Betsey BLACKINGTON of West Cambridge in 1823. And, then it says Betsey B., w. of Thomas, d. 1835, Age 41. The average person would think that Betsey HOMER was the first wife of Thomas HUTCHINSON from 1813 marriage, and that Betsey BLACKINGTON was his second wife ! But, this is not true ! (I don't have my notes handy, but Mrs. Betsey (HOMER) HUTCHINSON lived long after 1835 ! Possibly into 1850's !) There are other examples in the genealogy section where people with the same name .. are grouped into one paragraph - where they might not necessarily be directly related ! (From memory, I think I read that the Thomas HUTCHINSON who married Betsey BLACKINGTON was born in NH.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: Thomas and Betsey (HOMER) HUTCHINSON were my ancestors, through their son, Jacob Homer HUTCHINSON. And, Jacob and his brother, Thomas O. HUTCHINSON, owned the adjoining HUTCHINSON Farms in Winchester during the 1800's !
