    3. Hi Greg.... No, I've not seen the article you mentioned, but I shall try to find it at our library. I've heard of Daniel Adams, but at that point I wasn't paying attention to siblings of my ancestors, and have just recently begun going back to fill in this information. I discovered not long ago, and have yet to document this, that George and Daniel's father, George, Jr., had a brothers named Joseph and John. I believe it was Joseph who married Margaret Eames. That's not apropos of anything - except for her family name. I don't know if you have the information that George and Daniel's mother was Frances Taylor, born 1626 in Cambridge, MA. She was the daughter of Richard Taylor and Ann --?--. I don't see Frances's surname in all of the "trees". I'll keep my eyes open for further information on Daniel Adams and wish you good luck in your research! Suzi Larson

    3. Hi Janice... Thank you for the huge amount of research on the Stearns you sent! Wow -- there were a lot of them! My Stearns began with the Isaac who came to America in 1630 and to Watertown in 1631. His son, Samuel, b. 1638 in Watertown. Samuel married Hannah Manning and they had Isaac Stearns in 1674. Isaac married Mary Bemis and they had [Deacon] Isaac Stearns, who married Elizabeth Child in 1729 in Waltham. The family moved back to Watertown. Deacon Isaac and Elizabeth had Joshua Stearns. He married Lois Peirce of Waltham and they had Elizabeth Stearns in 1776. Elizabeth married Joel Smith of Lexington in 1794. Their son, Joshua Stearns Smith married Maria Lawrence of Lexington. These were the grandparents of my great-grandmother, Martha Augusta Smith of Cambridge, MA, born 1872. My great-grandmother had many memories of her grandmother, Maria. Luckily, I loved hearing the stories! Since my great-grandmother died when I was a teenager, I remember the stories and have many of the notes and letters on the genealogy of the immediate family that she shared with her sister and cousins. But I never had all the background of the Stearns family and it's many branches. Thanks so very much for sending this along, Janice. And thanks to ALL who responded to my query. What a great list this is....so full of dear and generous people! Suzi

    3. Hi Suzi, I just checked the "History of Chelmsford," and, even though there are many ADAMS people mentioned, I don't see a George. The "History of Carlisle" mentions a George, but only as an architect / designer of the Library in the 1800's?. The "History of Westford" does not mention a George, either. Perhaps someone who is descended from an ADAMS family in this area has information for you ! 3. Janice.... Thank you so very much for sending on the research from Bond's Watertown. I could easily see the descent from George Adams, Jr. to my Abigail Adams who married Ebenezer Brown and had Hannah Brown, b. 1735 in Lexington. Hannah was the 2nd wife of Josiah Smith - they the parents of Joel Smith who married Elizabeth Stearns of Waltham, and so on.... How fun it is to see how the families connect! And I appreciated seeing even more family names as I read the Bond report on my family. Thanks! Suzi Larson

    3. Hi Betty... Might my George Adams III, born 1647, Watertown, MA and married to Martha Fiske in 1683/84 be part of the Adams family you're researching? As far as I can ascertain my Adams family (George,Jr. and his brothers Joseph and John) were from Somerset Co., England and came directly to Watertown. George Adams III had a sister, Margaret, who married Thomas Wellington, Jr., and so I'm related to this particular Adams family twice. Just curious...and as always, I've enjoyed reading your wonderfully researched reports! Thanks so much for the work that you do. Suzi Larson

    1. BUTTERS Farm, Wilmington (GREEN, Carlisle)
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, This morning there is an article in "The Lowell Sun" about the Town of Wilmington agreeing to purchase "The BUTTERS Farm" -- which will be listed with the Registry of National Historical Treasures. You can probably find more information on this 300-year-old house on-line, or in previous newspaper reports. A brief description of the problem is that "a developer" bought most of the rest of the farmland surrounding the historic house and, of course, built a new subdivision of houses on it, and he didn't want the historic house -- in his way ! Coincidentally, I just picked up the "History of Carlisle" and the book opened up to a page showing a picture of Mrs. Mary GREEN. The paragraph next to it says: "Mrs. Mary A. Green, only child of Joseph and Mary E. (Munroe) Butters, was born in Burlington, Mass., July 22, 1853. She comes of Revolutionary stock. Her great-great-grandfather, Samuel Butters, 2nd, of Wilmington, marched on Lexington alarm, April 19, 1775, in Capt. Freeborn Moulton's company of minute men, of Monson, and in Colonel Donnelson's regiment. Her great-grandfather, Joseph Butters, of Wilmington, son of Samuel Butters, 2nd, enlisted during the war of the Revolution in Captain Wright's company, Enoch Hale's regiment of New Hampshire, to reinforce garrison at Ticonderoga. Her great-grandfather, Jonas Munroe, on her mother's side was a descendant from William Munroe, who settled in Lexington (then Cambridge Farms). Said Jonas Munroe of Carlisle (then Billerica) was in Solomon Pollard's company of militia, Colonel Green's regiment, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service one day; also Capt. Solomon Kidder's Company, Colonel Brook's regiment; return endorsed '1776' and probably made up at White Plains; ....." A summary of the rest of the paragraph goes: Mary BUTTERS received her early education in Burlington and then received 3 years of private instruction before she entered Mt. Holyoke Seminary. She next taught school both in Burlington and Carlisle. In 1880 she married Thomas A. GREEN, son of Capt. Thomas and Maria GREEN, and came to Carlisle, where she has since lived. She was a very active citizen of Carlisle, holding Town offices and became a Trustee of the Library, and then later the Librarian of the Gleason Public Library. This is just an FYI to whoever might be interested ! Betty (near Lowell, MA)

    1. RE: [MAMiddle] St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlborough, MA
    2. John Buczek
    3. Norman Simoneau.. a neighbor down the street remembers great uncle "Ben" as he went by. He had a large farm on Millham St. which he sold. The family moved to Harrington Ct. in town. "Yeh, I also remember John, he married and bought the farm and took care of his father" Anyways, I'm from Marlborough and this post peaked my curiousity. So I did some research on the family in the census of 1910 and 1920. The following is what I found. Curious. when Mary ends up on Harrington Ct. in 1920, there's no Cyprien (Cyprian) yet he is still living. Maybe he was on the farm at the time. Cyprian Simoneau was born May 21,1858 in Canada and came to the US in 1860, married Mary born March 12,1861 in Canada and came to the US in 1865. She became a citizen in 1882. They married 1878 in Marlborough. They had Arthur S. born 1888, Charles C. born 1885, Edward T. born 1891, Stacy a daughter born 1893, Francis V. born 1895, John P. 1896 and Anna V. born 1899. In 1910 Cyprian owns his own farm on Elm St., sons Arthur and Edward are sole cutters in a shoe factory, daughter Stacy is a day hand in a shoe factory and son John was an errand boy in a shoe factory In 1910 son Charles C. at age 25 has been married for two years to Florence age 21. BTW: The following is in my guest book I am now working on my husbands mothers family. That would be Simoneau(Louis Napoleon) and Manning(Mary A. ). She was born in Marlborough. As I was told Louis had a large family of Simoneaus in Marlborough.Louis had a brother that was a superior court judge so he told.Louis' parents were Cyprian Benjamin Simoneau and Marie Louise Duhamel.(both died in Marlborough). I am looking to find more of the family. It is understood that Louis has numerous siblings! The story was also told that Louis was once on a jury where a man was wrongly convicted of murder as someone else confessed on their death bed. Does this sound familiar to anyone??? I would love for someone with knowledge of the Simoneau and or Manning family or better yet a relative of either to contact me. I can be reached at: sisbubwilhawg@metrocast.net or my backup address: Mskay1951@excite.com. Please someone contact me if you can give me any info.. Thanks In Advance for your anticipated willingness to help. Kay Kay Mahoney <sisbubwilhawg@metrocast.net> OBTW: Cyprien and wife are here: (In French) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~simoneau/simoneau/pag23.htm Anyways. I will make a sincere attempt at finding their grave. St. Marys is on the side of a hill and I'm not to swift at walking. I will also try to find the house, Norm says it's still there, and take a pic of it also. Not today though for it is raining. I am also trying to contact another Simeneau I know to see if he is related. Email me at john.buczek@comcast.net PS: The closest shoe factory to where they lived on Elm St. would be the S.H. Howe shoe factory. Here is a picture of it. http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~historyofmarlborough/shoefactories.ht m#SHOE PPS: He must have bought the land and farm after 1900, for the map I have does not show the name. -----Original Message----- From: KPhill2906@aol.com [mailto:KPhill2906@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, April 20, 2006 5:54 PM To: MAMIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MAMiddle] St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlborough, MA Dear Fellow Researchers: I am hoping to find someone that would be willing to locate and photograph the gravemarkers of my great grandparents? 1. ADAMS in Chelmsford, Westford (KIDDER, GREEN)
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, I have the "History of Westford" from the Library for a few more days, and I looked at it this morning for KIDDER, GREEN, and ADAMS information. I found this paragraph interesting: In genealogy section, "ADAMS. The Adams family of Chelmsford and Westford is descended from Henry, who was in Braintree in 1630, and who was the ancestor of two presidents of that name. Three of his sons went to Concord about 1646. Two of them, Samuel and Thomas, removed to Chelmsford in 1654, and were leading men in that town. They were both men of property and contributed much to the prosperity of the new plantation. Samuel built the first mill in the town, on River Meadow Brook, and Thomas settled in the westerly part, near the present residence of Charles Adams. From these two brothers there are two lines of descent, so involved and intricate that no investigator without access to private records can trace them satisfactorily. They cross each other by intermarriages, and the given names in each line are so often alike that the difficulty is greatly increased. In giving the genealogy of the Westford branches it is scarcely practicable to show their connection with the one or the other of the two brothers." How's that for giving you ..hope.. for finding your ancestors ! :o) There is only brief information on: 1) Samuel, who was probably a descendant of Thomas and son of Timothy, of the third generation, m. Elizabeth BUTTERFIELD, 1728. 2) Samuel, m. Elizabeth BLOOD, 1756 3) Thomas, m. Mary MEAD or MEADS, 1759. 4) Samuel is generally designed as "Samuel, the trader," and was probably the son of Samuel and Esther (EMERSON) ADAMS. He might have married Thankful CHAMBERLIN in 1770. 5) Thomas, m. Esther PERRY, 1781 6) Richard, m. Sally FLETCHER, 1806. ... With so little information on "Samuel, the trader" in the Westford book, it is somewhat surprising that "the KIDDER book" has the following information: Sarah KIDDER, b1761, daughter of Thomas "Cornet" KIDDER, married at Concord, MA, 1780, Lt. Samuel ADAMS, Jr., born at Chelmsford in 1747. Samuel was the son of Samuel and Esther (EMERSON) ADAMS. Samuel and Sarah ADAMS had the following children in Chelmsford: Samuel, b1781, Sally, b1783, Mary, b1785, John, b1787 (d1824), and Lucy, b1793 (d1808). Mrs. Sarah ADAMS died in 1854 at Age 92 ! Lt. Samuel ADAMS, Jr., died in Chelmsford in 1816. I'm just offering this as an FYI for ADAMS researchers ! But, if anyone has information on the family of Samuel and Sarah (KIDDER) ADAMS, I'd like to know about it ! Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: Sarah KIDDER's older sister was Elizabeth KIDDER, b1745, who married 1) Zacheus GREEN in 1765, and had at least 10 children with him ! She then married 2) Frederick BLOOD (no further info). Zacheus and Elizabeth GREEN seem to have lived in Carlisle where GREEN's were an important part of the town. I have just done some on-line investigating about their oldest son, Thomas Kidder GREEN, b1768. In 1793, he inherited his grandfather's large property in Westford, MA, but he seems to have only lived there a few years. When he married in 1797, he was living in Westmoreland, NH (on VT border), and he married Betsey COGSWELL of Littleton. They seem to have had 5 children, 4 daughters, and a son, Cogswell Kidder GREEN, b1809 NH. Mrs. Betsey GREEN died in 1820, and it seems a few years later Thomas GREEN moved to Michigan ! (Ohio?) His daughters might have remained in NH, but his son, Cogswell GREEN, moved to Ohio ! There is information on the LDS site on this family, so someone is reseaching them ! I'll try to find out about the other sons of Zacheus and Elizabeth GREEN: Zacheus, b1770, Isaiah, b1772, Samuel, b1781, Eli, b1783, and Asa, b1785 ! (And about Samuel ADAMS, b1781.)

There was an article in the April 21 edition of my local paper (Framingham) regarding a headstone that has been in the lost property department of the Milford, MA police department for at least the past 16 years. They are trying to find where it belongs. The stone is for Enos T. ALBEE (1814-1887) and his wife, Deborah H. NICHOLS (1818-1873). From WorldConnect and the census, I have established that they lived, for the most part, in Mendon (they were in Milford in the 1860 census). Enos was a boot manufacturer. They apparently only had one child, Charles, born 1845. Charles married and had several children. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about finding their final resting place? I plan to call the Mendon town clerk tomorrow (they were closed on Friday). Some later family members were apparently buried in the Oxford Cemetery and I saw on the web that there is an Albee Cemetery in Uxbridge. Suggestions welcome. I live in MA, but all of my research is in PA and MD. Vanessa

Do you have any documentation of these statements about Thomas and who his widow and her Hutchinson children were? I don't find any source that he came over with a wife and children. Anderson in Great Migration Begins says: "Thomas Hutchinson was #52 on the list of early Boston church members, immediately before GEORGE HUTCHINSON; after his name is the later notation that he had died, at an undetermined date [BChR 14]. ... All this indicates that Thomas Hutchinson came in 1630, settled in Charlestown, and died very soon, probably the same year." I cannot find in Torrey marriages any listing of his widow or her re-marriage. There certainly were Hutchinsons in Salem, but I thought those who were born in England were children of Richard and Alice (Bosworth) Hutchinson, not the elusive Thomas.
