Jim, I'm sorry I can't help you with your specific problem but my Mom was a Malone and she and her ancestors came from County Tipperary. Usually the local registrars are quite co-operative if you have a query. They mostly operate out of the court house or, like in the US, out of the Department of Health. If you wrote to the Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths, c/o Court House, in any county it should reach the right person. We Irish are a friendly, helpful bunch as a rule! I'm living in Aistralia now and I wondered if you could help me with something. My husband, Lt Ralph Spaans, was killed in action in the terrible battle for the Hurtgen Forest in 1944. Shortly after I lost everything I had of him, letter, photos, poetry etc in a fire in London. He was born in Medford, Massachusetts, but lived in Bogota, New Jersey when he joined the army. He graduated from Bogota High in 1940 (May 8 I think) I have been trying to find someone who might have a year book with his picture in it. I have written to the school and received no reply though I'm pretty sure I had the address right. It was sent to me email by a woman who lives in the next town. His Mom, Ruth Homer (second marriage) lived at 605 Lincoln Boulevard, Westward, NJ when I met Ralph. Is Westward very far from Bogota? I am writing a book about the brave men who fought in the Hurtgen and I would dearly love to have a picture of Ralph for the book. All I have is a very poor snapshot that was in my purse when the fire took everything else. Now, 57 years of living in my purse hasn't improved it! Could you send me the address of the Department of Education in NJ and the public library in Bogota in the hopes they might know where there are some year books please? I hate to ask you for this favor, and I hope you aren't cross about it, but it would mean a great deal to me to find a picture. Don't think of me as a stranger, we might be cousins! Sincerely, Padda (Spaans) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
