Hi list & Kim, I found my John S. Malone in 1840 Newton Co., Mississippi census, all the children match, there is a son John born 1840 - Ms. This family is located on 1850 Coahoma Co., Ms census, then found on 1860 Randolph Co., Ark. census, all the children born Miss. NOTE: John S.'s surname was misspelled MELOUN, the childrens were spelled MELONE in 1850 Coahoma Co., Miss. Also, living next door on 1840 Newton Co., Miss. is "A.L. Malone" with 1 male under 5, 1 male 40/50, 1 female under 5, 1 female 15/20. Then a few households away is "G.B. Malone" 2 males under 5, 1 male 30/40, 1 female under 5, 1 female 20/30. (John S. Malone says born Georgia on all census records). Newton County, Miss. lost most of their early records in courthouse fire around 1911.(That hurts!) And yes, it looks like they did wander!)
