May 13, 1880, Sugar Notch, PA (Because of the gap between Joseph and Bernard, I feel confident that more children exist - perhaps stayed behind in Ireland - but I have not tracked them as yet) Joseph Malone m. Feb. 6 1880 Found the family on the 1870 census for Luzerne County, PA. Joseph's brothers, Patrick and Bernard are living with he and his wife and children. The men are all employed at the mines. A 1900 census for Sugar Notch shows my grandmother Catherine Jane living with her Uncle Bernard - she was 23 and single - and both parents were dead. Nearly all of my paternal line originate from Doona, Ballycroy, County Mayo. Most imigrated to Sugar Notch/Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania and worked in the anthracite coal mines, but subsequent generations moved to New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Other affiliated families: Murray, Kane, Dougherty, McGinty, Ginley, Duffy, Durkin, McManamon, Corrigan, Caffrey, Conway, Carlin. Hope to share info with researchers in the Luzerne County area. Shelia Lenahan (Malone) Sulkowski (nice Irish girl marries nice Polish boy - lives happily ever after 8-)
