I live here in Memphis, and have come across a street down town that was named MALONE......and if you go down a piece it also has WALTER MALONE........I have always wander who this MALONE WAS.......... I descend from MELLOWN / MALONE name..............My great grandfather was SAMUEL SMITH MELLOWN......but only found him as SAMUEL SMITH MALONE...........my grandfather JAMES MEADOW MELLOWN......{but was known & buried as JOHN MEADOW MALONE}. most lived in Georgia, Pickens County & Sumter County Alabama, some moved off to Mississippi {MELLOWN} . Fun fact on Memphis Malones. In the 1850's there was a law firm in Memphis called Malone and Malone. They did some work for Thomas Wood Malone [not related, but he probably picked them because of the name] of Point Pleasant, [W]Va regarding claims of his grandfather in the War of 1812.
