Jim, I'm sorry I can't help you with your specific problem but my Mom was a Malone and she and her ancestors came from County Tipperary. Usually the local registrars are quite co-operative if you have a query. They mostly operate out of the court house or, like in the US, out of the Department of Health. If you wrote to the Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths, c/o Court House, in any county it should reach the right person. We Irish are a friendly, helpful bunch as a rule!
