Brainerd NORTHAMPTON - Edward B. Brainerd, 85, of 11 Mann Terrace in the Florence section, died Sunday at a local nursing home. He was a cabinet maker for Florence Casket Co. and retired in the late 1980s. He worked previously at Hampton Mills in Easthampton. Born in Monticello, Iowa, he attended the Clarke School for the Deaf. He was a lifetime member of the Williamsburg Grange and a member of the Clarke School Alumni Association and the Baystate Deaf Seniors. He leaves his wife of 60 years, the former Ellen L. Knox; three daughters, Elizabeth Thompson of Arlington, Va., Louise Brown of Florence and Priscilla Williams of Williamsburg; a sister, Barbara Crane of Golden, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday morning at College Church in Northampton, with burial at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday evening at Pease Funeral Home.
