Posted on: Hampshire Co. Ma Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ma/Hampshire?read=360 Surname: Mickina, Mickna, Smaller ------------------------- Michael Mickna (Mickina) immigrated from Austria married Anna Smaller, also from Austria. Place of marriage unknown. May have been in U.S. or Austria. Had daughter, Mary Mickna, born 11 Sept 1906, South Hadley, Hampshire Co., Mass. Father's occupation at time of birth: "Overseer of yard (R.R. yard?)". Have copy of Mary's birth certificate, Vol. 552, page 2&3, #84, but cannot locate it in South Hadley's birth records. Please help me find place of burial for father and mother. They may have been Catholic. Would be thrilled to know what funeral home handled burial. Mary married a Fred G. Hayden in Holyoke, Mass while working for Milton-Bradley Toy Factory in 1926-27. First daughter born to Michael and Anna was Anna, born 1905, died 1922, age 17. Need her burial place also, as well as death certificate. Cannot find any Mickna/Mickina families in vicinity of South Hadley. Parents, Michael and Anna both spoke Polish. Any suggestions, leads, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Marie In South Hadley on Spring St there is a local Cemetary. In Holyoke there are three. St Michael, Forestdale, and a French cemetary. Forestdale has burials on index card and dates. Holyoke has place of burial and funeral home on death records. South Hadley town clerk office is very helpful and has records in books for index and I am sure they will help if you can pindown the dates and names. Again request photo copies for cost. In Holyoke The records are indexed on cards and orginals are availible for copies. If you go there they let one researcher look for 1 hour and more if no other person request to look up records they let you stay longer. You can request a search there for a fee. Request photo copies for min cost. Certified copies are typed in and signed by Town Clerks and cost $8-10 on better paper. Name and dates are the Key here for quick searches. Hope this helps if no look ups occur for you. Earl
