According to the LDS/IGI, my umpteenth great-aunt, Hannah Shepherd CUNNINGHAM was born 9 Mar 1826 in Northampton, Hampshire Co, MA. Hannah married Jesse Thayer LEONARD, Sr. in Apr 1853. Could anyone suggest how I could document this birth and (hopefully!) the name of her parents? The Northampton Town Clerk advises that they don't have a record there. Are there tax rolls for Northampton for that time frame? Or any other ideas? I'd surely be grateful, Best regards from California! Carolyn Carter Johnson (mailto:rhunterg@ix.netcom.com)

Posted on: Hampshire Co. Ma Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ma/Hampshire?read=390 Surname: SMITH, MAGRANNIS, MOODY, NASH ------------------------- My Smith family descended from Lt. Samuel Smith who arrived in America in 1634 from England. My grandfather was Frank Herbert Smith who was born in South Hadley( I think)about 1864-65. His parents were Edward Lowell Smith and Adeline Magrannis ( or Magranis). They had 9 children. I am trying to find the names of these children. I do know that one brother was Leonard Nelson Smith b. 1879. He was superintendant of the Pearl River Paper Mill in South Hadley. I also want to learn where Frank was born. Also it would be great to learn more about this family in terms of occupation, community involvement, and church affiliation. I have " History of Hadley, Mass." by Judd with the "Family Genealogies" by Boltood included in the book. All of my ancestors are in this book. But I need information about Adeline and Edward and their children. Adeline and Edward were married at the First Congregational Church in South Hadley( letter from David Morrell). Mrs Cronin at the South Hadley Historical Society provided me with the lineage back to 1634. I wrote back asking for more information. She responded and referred me to the book that I mentioned above. Edward Lowell Smiths mothers maiden name was Harriet MOODY. His grandmothers maiden name was Phoebe NASH. I live in Louisiana and therefore do not have access to the records in South Hadley. Please email me at Gbello5353@aol.com Thank you so much.

Dear Cyn --- Thankyou kindly for your help offer. At this time I have quite a bit of data from Monson, ie. St Patrick's & the Town of Monson. What I lack is a church record of my Gp's marriage. Thomas Richard Costello & Bridget Joyce, according to the State of Mass records, were m: 6 February 1875 in Palmer MA. But I dont know which church. Those that I've tried havent responded despite requests, donations, Christmas cards & telephone calls. (I'm venting a little bit.) St Thomas, Palmer says no; St Anne's, Three Rivers says no. Somebody mentioned a St Mary's, Thorndike; do you happen to have their address. I've never considered the historical society; I guess that I never thought that they would have any Costello data; we're not old family. If you think it would help, I'll gladly try to contact them; please send me their address. Do you suppose that they would be interested in a Costello narrative; I've much data. Again , many thanks. Mark--Do you have any information on Packardsville, which I think I've finally figured out was part of Pelham, but is now under the Quabbin Resevoir? I am searching for any Griswold's, especially, Hannah Grisold born @ 1778 and married Cyrus Packard of Packardsville. She is the only person on my English side of the family, that no one has been able to trace. Hello, I am searching for death, obituary or tombstone recordings of Enoch Hall Sr, who supposedly died in Haverhill, Grafton, NH. (Can't even find Haverhill on Rand's Atlas so I'm really in tough shape.) Enoch was a war hero, fighting both Indians and the English in the Revolutionary War and achieved a high rank because of it. He was married to Martha Wright before 1729 and should have died about 1780. b.13 April 1699. I would appreciate any help available. Many thanks, Kate
