Yes, it was Agawam, and the Exposition is still running. It's called the Big E now, see http://www.thebige.com/, and it runs for about 17 days now. -----Original Message----- From: MAHAMPDE-L-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:MAHAMPDE-L-request@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Sande Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2004 11:30 AM To: MAHAMPDE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MAHAMPDEN] - old amusemnent parks - There was also Riverside Park. I think it may have been in Agawam, MA.. There was stock car races there on the weekends as well as roller skating and the amusement park. Maybe someone else will let me know if it was in Agawam for sure, it's been allot of years. But my favorite was the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield held once a year in September for about ten days. Each New England state has it's own building etc, just like a huge fair. Hope this helps you. ----- Original Message ----- From: <shepaug@mailworks.org> To: <MAHAMPDE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2004 3:00 AM Subject: [MAHAMPDEN] - old amusemnent parks - > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VFB.2ACI/4144 > > Message Board Post: > > I hope I'm not too off-topic here but the history here is getting lost--or scarce? > > Anybody remember anything about any old Amusement Parks in the area? > > There were numerous smaller ones but history is elusive. > > In Palmer there was Forest Park.
