This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VFB.2ACI/4146 Message Board Post: Hello. I'd just like to get a "point of order" clarified. I am just now finding out that the Message Boards now have "owners or administrators" which wasn't always the case. And, I'd like to know whether the "owner or administrator" of the Mailing List to which the associated Message Board is "gatewayed" has the right to determine which queries or responses get posted to the Message Board .. IF he or she is not also the "owner / administrator" of the Message Board. FYI: I just checked and the "administrator" of the MA Hampden Message Board is .. Laurel O'Donnell. Another question? Is there a page which lists the "instructions" for posting to each Message Board? FYI: I went to the "administrative" section of the Message Board section of the home page www.rootsweb.com and found out there are Message Boards for "Suggestions" for Message Boards. And, I found out that volunteers to take over as administrators of Message Boards are needed.
<<FYI: I just checked and the "administrator" of the MA Hampden Message Board is .. Laurel O'Donnell.>> Hello...... FYI:Lauren gave up her position as Administrator a few months ago. I don't know if this lists has Archives like others I belong to but if they do then you can check. Some list Administrators are VERY strict in what they allow. Claire
These are from the list archives. After some careful thought, it seems to be the right time to pass this responsibility along to someone else. This will involve administering the list only, NOT the Ancestry/Rootsweb Boards that serve as a gateway to the list. I will, of course, continue to subscribe to the list since much of my own family research focuses upon Hampden County. If you are interested in being List Administrator for Hampden County, please e-mail me privately at lod@zapix.com. The ideal candidate would be someone with some familiarity with lists and have an interest in Hampden County Genealogy/History. Many of you will know Cynthia from the numerous other lists she has maintained and/or contributed to. She has been a huge contributor to free genealogy over the many years I have been online. I am quite happy Cynthia has has taken on Hampden County! Best to everyone! Laurel O'Donnell-Lafford ______________________________ ------------------------------
This advice is from one who has been on rootsweb since its inception, many, many years ago. I have been tossed off more lists than most belong to. I have belonged to lists that allow free wheeling and dealing, and those that offer not one bit of leeway in the discussion. Therefore, take your lumps and move on. This ends my tread and hopefully the entire issue.
