    1. John Pynchon Estate Papers re: Tom, a Negroman

    3. Greetings! About once a month I visit the County Records Office in Northampton to search through old estate records for payments to gravestone carvers. Northampton's pre-1812 probate files aren't on microfilm, so I've been allowed to photograph the documents - no flash. I haven't found what I'm looking for yet - but I have been taking photos of the interesting old inventories I run across. Thought you might be interested in seeing some payments from the estate of Col John Pynchon, son of William Pynchon from 1721 - 1723. His administrators were charged with caring for a "Negroman Named Tom" until his death, and this document includes funeral charges. I've also posted a 1663 signature and seal of John Pynchon from an early will he wrote when he was planning to cross the ocean to Great Britain. Webshots lets you view at various sizes - if you want to save and/or print a document choose view full size. (The documents are 700k each at full size so the print quality should be good.) http://community.webshots.com/user/rustyclark http://community.webshots.com/album/231694232MKLLAD?380 More to come, Rusty West Springfield, Massachusetts ~Stories Carved In Stone~ http://www.dogpondpress.net/stone.html Old Bones Tombstone Gallery... http://www.oldbones.net/cpg/index.php?cat=10014
