I thought of another possible source of information on that RR accident in Chester MA. Years ago, I spoke to a member of the Amherst, MA railway society. I believe his name was Bob, that he was an organizer of the society, and that he mentioned Chester in our conversations. He or someone else in the society may know about that accident. The web site is http://www.amherstrail.org/, You can also contact the Connecticut Valley Historial Museum in Springfield, Mass. They have newspapers back to that date and can do research for a small fee. Their site is http://www.quadrangle.org. Just find the link to the musuem's page. -----Original Message----- From: MAHAMPDE-L-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:MAHAMPDE-L-request@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of genewell2@hotmail.com Sent: Friday, December 03, 2004 11:14 AM To: MAHAMPDE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MAHAMPDEN] Railroad accident 1853 reported in Springfield Republican This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. The accident was reported in the NY Times on that date. Daniel Ferre of Springfield was killed in the accident. I hope an obituary or account of the accident will tell me more about his family.
