Transcript-Telegram February 20, 1971, Page 5 John Hynd, 75 John Hynd, 75, of 300 Walnut St. died this morning at the Holyoke Hospital following a longillness. He was the husband of Betsy (Ewan) Hynd. Mr. Hynd was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on Aug. 18, 1895, son of the late John and Helen (Gow) Hynd. He moved to Holyoke when he was a young boy. Mr.Hynd served with the Canadian Army during World War I. He had been retired several years. Besides his wdow, Mr. Hynd is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Una) Bates of Gloucester; a brother Robert of Holyoke, two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle H. Laidley of Holyoke and Mrs. Lillian H. Bibby of South Hadley; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A private funeral will be held at the Edward F. Day Funeral Home Monday afternoon with the Rev. Duane Cossart officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and friends are requested to omit flowers.
