About 5-7 years ago, I found out about a book written by a Chelmsford, MA, man. He started out writing a family history book on his PATIENCE family, but it turned out to be a much larger story of many families who lived in the "Connecticut River Valley." I just retrieved this information from my local library's web site's "catalog" ... Say goodbye to the valley : three families joys and hardships along the Connecticut River / by Wes Patience ; editor, Guy A. McLain ; assistant editor, Margaret Humberston. More Copies by Patience, Wes. Springfield, MA : Connecticut Valley Historical Museum, c1994. Description: 506 p. : ill., ports. ; 24 cm. .... I borrowed the book from the Chelmsford Library when I found out about it (local TV), and found it to have tons of information but was not as organized as some professional books might be. I remember it included a story of an aunt or great-aunt who ended up living in a State Hospital in the Springfield area, mainly because she was un-married, and none of her relatives wanted her to live in "their" home. I also remember him mentioning a little history of Springfield, in general. So far, I only know it is available in a few, local Libraries, and at the "Connecticut Valley Historical Museum."
