    1. [MAHAMPDE] Hugh and Robert Hamilton
    2. Hugh Hamilton and Robert Hamilton were brothers. Both were among those excommunicated from the Hopkinton Church. From Sumner Gilbert Wood's Ulster Scots and Blandford Scots page 153: "A complete list of the Hopkinton excommunicates will be of interest, for it comprises the major part of the real nucleus of the Blandford settlement--not absolutely all of it. The dates of their joining are appended: Robert Cooke, William Dunaghoi, Robert Hambleton, Robert Huston (all 1724), Hugh Black, Mrs. Hugh Black (1725), William Henry (1727), Matthew Blair, Sarah Montgomery, Robert Black (1728), Jane Wark, Rebecca Wark (1729), James Montgomery, John Hambleton, Adam Knox (1730), Israel Gibbs, Mary Gibbs, Israel Walker (1731), Mrs. Robert Lennet (doubtless meaning Sennett) (1732). Besides these, under the inexplicable date of entry, July 5, 1772 (certainly a clerical error) are the following: Mrs. Robert Cook, Hugh Hambleton, Mrs. H. Hambleton, Walter Steward, Mrs. J.S. Montgomery, Mary Hambleton." Also on page 123: John and Robert Hambleton early went to Rutland where Hugh bought land in 1721. Sumner Gilbert Wood was an excellent researcher, and does cite his sources. Hope this helps. Shalom Peggy J. Knox Descendent Wm Knox of Blandford
