I did not realize that there was another library other than the The Berkshire Athenaeum. The National Archives is in another building and I didn't think they were so far apart, but then I am a country person who considers distance as a hop, skip, and a jump. I don't know if the other library has the extensive genealogy section, but my money is on the The Berkshire Athenaeum Library or at least I think it is called a library. -----Original Message----- From: Pat Lavato [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 9:18 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MAHAMPDE] Re: MAHAMPDE-D Digest V02 #86 It was the same when I was there a couple years ago. The Federal Archives are also located in the same town to make your research even more sucessful. There is so much information there that I need to go back again. The Libary hours are: Labor day through June Mon - Thursday 9 to 9; Friday 9 - 5 and Saturday 10-5. Call 413-499-9486 to confirm the hours they are open. I might add, be sure to book your hotel in advance as it will be graduation time and I made the mistake of going in May and had a terrible time finding a hotel as there are numerous colleges and universities that will be holding graduation cermonies. Also the hotels up their rates at this time of the year as well. > > ______________________________ >
I didn't mean there was another library. The Archives are a little out of the city but not that far. The Athenaeum does have an extensive genealogy collection for not only MA but some for NY &VT & Canada as well.Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty Post" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 18, 2002 5:39 PM Subject: FW: [MAHAMPDE] Re: MAHAMPDE-D Digest V02 #86 > I did not realize that there was another library other than the The > Berkshire Athenaeum.
