    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Dugay, Duguay, Martel, Rabouin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VFB.2ACI/158.737.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello Kathy and Anna-- How great to read your messages! I believe you are the two closest relatives I've ever known. Hurrah and hello! Jessie and Alma were two of my grandmother Cora's sisters, all daughters of Salome Martel and Charles Dugay. There were four sisters in all. A fifth daughter died in childhood, I think. Thank you so much for posting the info on your own families. I can't wait to put it all in my chart. About those pesky spellings--I also have found Salome listed as Soloma, Saloma and Selina in various vital records and censuses. (Even Dugay was listed once as Duga!) I remember Cora telling me her mother's name was Salome-- I thought it was somewhat daring that she had the same name as the Biblical dancer. In lookiing for their family, I spent a long time on a wild goose chase for Charles Dugay's mother. She was listed in the Chester Town Records as Julie Baboin. Three years later I discovered that she was actually Julia Rabouin. Sounds similar, right? So with that clue, I searched the Canadian records (the Loiselle I mentioned in my message). With that, I found her family all the way back to France, maybe about six or eight generations. I also found the ancestors of Charles's Dugay family as well. The name was Duguay in the previous generation. Apparently the change happened when they came south to the US from Quebec. You might be interested to know I have Cora's photo album. It includes pictures of your Alma and Jessie around 1938. I'll scan one of the four sisters with Salome and send it on to you. I have your email addresses. Can you open a jpeg image? As I remember, I thought Donald was one of twins. Both names began with the letter D. Maybe David? Am I mixing things up? I'll bet I have baby pictures of Donald also. Possibly they are duplicates of what you already have. Yes, I'd love to know where the Dugays lived. Was this the Becket house? Do you have a street address? I have photos of one place with a big porch or veranda on a couple of sides, also taken in the 30's. I had tentatively planned a visit to Becket this spring vacation. I was hoping to repeat my good luck of a year ago when I visited Chester and found the Dugay, Harris and Van Wert (Cora's husband) markers in the Pine Hill Cemetery. I also spent some time looking in the Historical Society's record. Very helpful. So I'd be appreciative of any leads in where to look in Becket. And of course I'd be happy to share anything to help you both. Pardon my lengthy reply. I was so pleased to hear from you! Linden
