I saw a request from one of the listers searching for stencilers in a few newsletters past. That person got a good response to that request. I would like to try a similar request in hopes of trying to find a great grand father of mine that lived in the Granville area around 1738. A few generations of this grand father were in the hide curing and tanning business. It seems l;ike most of the sons of this line, apprenticed from their father. I am looking for any person that may have been doing this type of trade from 1700 to 1738. The man I am looking for is EDWARD FINEL. Greetings! I took a couple hundred photos in Huntington - Norwich Hill Cemetery this afternoon. Anyone seeking family names in that area? I can see if your kin in the batch of pix. We also took OLD Granville and West Granville stones last week. Out of the county? We took a couple hundred shots in the old Easthampton Cemetery and the Pittsfield (stones removed from the town common in the 1840s) Cemetery, too. I also have the majority of the oldest West Springfield, Agawam/Feeding Hills and Holyoke (Rt 5) stones - the ones that are legible, at least. Email me or post and I'll look thru the directories - very few are cataloged yet. The majority are pre-1875. ~Rusty Clark West Springfield Massachusetts - Stories Carved In Stone: http://www.dogpondpress.net/stone.html

Hi Roni, >From "A Guide to Massachusetts Cemeteries" Westfield: Middle Farms Cemetery (1790) Russellville Road NEHGS [MS70/WES/201] NSDAR [G.R.C./S1/v.214] I've never used the call numbers - but included them in case you find them useful. I don't really know where this is. If someone from Westfield can't take these for you, I can try to get out that way next time I'm out taking gravestone photos. Can you post the stones you're looking for? How true it is...<<interesting facts that genealogy brings up"<<........ It could have been done by the Eatons or Porter..... I heard from a lady in Vermont that her ancestor was Erastus Gates, stenciler. Indian shutters too..............gee...would love to see that house ! Many folks think genealogy is names and dates but many things come into play if you want your ancestors to be real human flesh and blood. Agawam Center Cemetery Records shows: Ebenezer Jones b. 1749 d. 1849 - Rev War Soldier The Vital Records for West Springfield to 1850 (First Cong Holyoke - Elmwood Cemetery) shows three Ebenezer Jones - the date for the death of the eldest is April 26 or 27, 1839 ae 90. The other two Ebenezers are called variously 2nd and 3rd or Jr and 2nd - and both death dates show as November __ 1838. Ebenezer 2nd (3rd) is ae 26 (note says November 5) Ebenezer Jr (2nd) is ae 67 (note says November 18) I didn't find any Madisons in Agawam cemetery records. I am trying to find out any info on my grandmother's sister (GLADYS MAY COOPER) born in Florence/Northampton, MA on Feb. 20, 1899. Their parents were Anna Louise (Jones) Cooper (who was born in Tennessee) and Walter Cooper (born in MA). I have a copy of the 1900 census which indicated that she was listed with her parents.. (however Anna's name listed Louise as her first name). but unfortunately cant find anything else. There were three other sisters born after Gladys. They were Esther Cooper Foisey Woodrow (born 1903) and Beatrice Louise Cooper Wellspeak (born 1900) My grandmother (Myrtle Eliza Cooper Lancto Mallette) was born in 1911 in Springfield, MA. If you think you have any further information please contact me...

My wife has a long line of Griswolds...but no Sylvanus. However, I went to Gencircles. http://www.gencircles.com/ and typed in Sylvanus Griswold and hit search...16 hits, at least one of em with a long line of what you are looking for. Good luck. Paul of San Diego
