Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VFB.2ACI/296.1 Message Board Post: Hi Christine, Not sure if this has any connection, but I have ben researching the Kelly Family in Springfield for the last two years. Only a couple of days ago I found more family members. Patrick Kelly was born in Caharciveen, co Kerry, Ireland in 1875. His parents were Maurice Kelly and Abigail (Abbie/ Gubby) nee Shea. Maurice and Abbie had 10 children who survived infancy. Maurice died about 1889, and Patrick being the eldest son came to the USA. From a letter written by the maiden aunts of my husband I learned that there were 7 girls and 3 boys in the family. Abigail (the mom) came to the USA when the youngest child was only 4 years old and brought the rest of the family with her. Patrick married a Bridget Sullivan November 11, 1903 in Springfield, MA, and I found the family on the 1920 census living at 99 Pendleton Ave, in Springfield. In 1910 the family was also living at 99 Pendleton Ave, and they owned the home even though Patrick was just a motor man for the Springfield Trolley Company. I have had such dificulty finding the family in the 1900 census, but I finally did that just two nights ago, and there is Patrick living at 76 Tyler St, in Springfield with some of his siblings. Patrick in 1900 was 25 years old, and there is John age 22, Michael age 18, Katherine? (blurred in census) age 16, Margaret E age 12, and Bridie (Bridget)age 10. In the 1910 census Patrick has a sister named Abbie living with his family, and by using the British Vital records I found Maria born 1868, Julia born 1869 and a Kate born in 1871. The 1900 census states that the whole family came to the USA in 1889, but that is a mistake. Patrick came in 1890 or 91, and th! e rest of the family came about 4 years later. As yet I have not found Abbie (Mom) on the 1900 census or Julia, Maria, Kate or Abbie the daughter. It is possible they are living together close to Patrick and his siblings. I'll just have to keep looking. My next move is to check the marriage records for that area. Patrick and Bridget had 6 children Brendan, Eileen, Katherine, Mary, Patrick J, and Sheila. Brendan married a lady named Dorothy and lived in New York. No children. He was an attorney. Mary married late in life and lived in Connecticut. Again no children. Eileen and Katherine were schoolteachers and never married, they spent their whole lives taking care of their sick sister Sheila who had a muscle wasting disease. Eileen just died earlier this year at age 99, she was the last of the family. My husband is the third son of Patrick junior, and we live in Alameda, California. It would be nice to find a connection. My husbands brother still lives in Massachusetts. Warm regards from Elizabeth
