Hello, Listers. I understand that there is a Swetland-Pease House located in East Longfellow that is on the list for historical status. Can anyone tell me any history about this house? Who built it? When? How did it get the name Swetland-Pease? Who were the PEASEs and SWETLANDs after whom the house is named? What is the next largest town to East Longfellow (Mapblast says it can't find East L.)? I have many PEASE ancestors. One of them was married to Andrew BARTON ca 1800. Andrew is buried in VT in a plot where there are buried (ca 1850) the wives of Philetus SWETLAND/SWEATLAND and Chauncy SWETLAND. But my PEASEs and my BARTONs lived in MA in the late 1700s. Some were in Lanesboro and in Blandford. I'm wondering if these PEASEs and SWETLANDs are of my family. Please let me have any little or big info you might have. Jane in AZ

General comment to the list (and to Paul of San Diego): While I appreciate enthusiasm for sports, particularly when a favored team reigns victorious, I must insist that such personal commentary NOT be shared with the list. MA-HAMPDE is not the forum for discussion of sports, no matter how thrilled you are. I thank you in advance for your cooperation. I would appreciate any shared enthusiasm be sent directly to the original poster and NOT to the entire list. Laurel O'Donnell listowner, MA-HAMPDE

Hello, My dad's name is Charles Sabbides. He was born in Lowell in LOWELL 7/20/1925 at Corporation Hospital. He has 2 brothers, Robert and Stanley, also born in Lowell and a sister Christalla, born in Lowell as well. All of them were placed in foster care in 1929 or so. The three boys lived in Hampden, on North Road with a woman named Mabel Fisher. The sister, was placed in "The Polio Hospital" in Canton, Ma for about 10 years. Their father was from Greece. His name was Menelaos Stylianou. He worked in mills and Greek coffee houses. My dad's mother's name was Euphemia Callahan/ or Heffron/Hefferon? She was born in Manchester, NH. We recently discovered that my dad has three half siblings, 2 brothers and a sister. Their last name is Schwartz. On 1/10/1929, my dad's mother gave birth to a baby boy at Corporation Hospital in Lowell and we believe he was placed for adoption immediately. His birth name was "Edmund." I was able to locate the birth announcement in the local paper for "Edmund," I can't find any info. on him from vital records or any where else. Any ideas? Also, I would like to get a copy of my dad's father's obituary. How do I do this? Thank you in advance for any ideas anyone can pass along. Charlyn Sabbides Gibson
