    1. [MAHAMPDE] Barbara Logan, 1981, Wilbraham,MA
    2. Ed O'Connor
    3. Barbara Logan is a cousin on the O'Connor side of my family. I found the obituary for Barbara's mother which lists Barbara as living in Wilbraham in 1981. Does anyone have access to Wilbraham Town Directories who could confirm whether she is still there. If Barbara is no longer listed, it would be helpful to confirm the latest year in which Barbara did live in Wilbraham. Thanks in advance for any advice or help. Ed O'Connor

    3. Does anyone have access to the 1920 Census for Agawam, MA who could do a look-up, please ? I have had absolutely no success in tracing my Robinson family connections. In my great grandmother's obituary was a reference to her brother, Louis Robinson who was supposedly living in Agawam, MA in 1915. I wonder if he was still there in 1920 ? Also, would it be possible to confirm Louis existence via a town directory for that time period or any period after 1915 ? Any help would be appreciated. Ed O'Connor

Surnames: Dugay, Duguay, Martel, Rabouin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VFB.2ACI/158.737.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello Kathy and Anna-- How great to read your messages! I believe you are the two closest relatives I've ever known. Hurrah and hello! Jessie and Alma were two of my grandmother Cora's sisters, all daughters of Salome Martel and Charles Dugay. There were four sisters in all. A fifth daughter died in childhood, I think. Thank you so much for posting the info on your own families. I can't wait to put it all in my chart. About those pesky spellings--I also have found Salome listed as Soloma, Saloma and Selina in various vital records and censuses. (Even Dugay was listed once as Duga!) I remember Cora telling me her mother's name was Salome-- I thought it was somewhat daring that she had the same name as the Biblical dancer. In lookiing for their family, I spent a long time on a wild goose chase for Charles Dugay's mother. She was listed in the Chester Town Records as Julie Baboin. Three years later I discovered that she was actually Julia Rabouin. Sounds similar, right? So with that clue, I searched the Canadian records (the Loiselle I mentioned in my message). With that, I found her family all the way back to France, maybe about six or eight generations. I also found the ancestors of Charles's Dugay family as well. The name was Duguay in the previous generation. Apparently the change happened when they came south to the US from Quebec. You might be interested to know I have Cora's photo album. It includes pictures of your Alma and Jessie around 1938. I'll scan one of the four sisters with Salome and send it on to you. I have your email addresses. Can you open a jpeg image? As I remember, I thought Donald was one of twins. Both names began with the letter D. Maybe David? Am I mixing things up? I'll bet I have baby pictures of Donald also. Possibly they are duplicates of what you already have. Yes, I'd love to know where the Dugays lived. Was this the Becket house? Do you have a street address? I have photos of one place with a big porch or veranda on a couple of sides, also taken in the 30's. I had tentatively planned a visit to Becket this spring vacation. I was hoping to repeat my good luck of a year ago when I visited Chester and found the Dugay, Harris and Van Wert (Cora's husband) markers in the Pine Hill Cemetery. I also spent some time looking in the Historical Society's record. Very helpful. So I'd be appreciative of any leads in where to look in Becket. And of course I'd be happy to share anything to help you both. Pardon my lengthy reply. I was so pleased to hear from you! Linden

    3. Just reminded after a visit there that the West Springfield, Ma Library's Historical Room http://www.wspl.org (ask permission & use rare book procedures) has a rather full set (exclusive of Boston Metro) of Vital Statistics volumes issued by the State for various Massachusetts towns for years 1640 or so through 1850. Very handy books one book per town or small city published in the '30's. Their Bowler Collection (shelved in that room) also has a good Scottish Surnames Volume & other Mass Civl War & History Source materials and some fine family histories including "Champion & Keep Family Histories" The Westfield Public Library has US Federal Cenuses on microfilm for Westfield .. and some other sources. Forbes Library In Northampton is arther exposed and the Librarians shouls secure it better ...but a good rich niche of Family histories and good New England reference genealogical name & historical texts. Holyoke has an historiccal roomalso at its main library open at the latter end ofthe week. Springfield has free days for Springfield residents and memberships at its Conneciticut Valley Historical Library http://www.quadrangle.org Alll have rather good cross-jurisdciational resources such as City Directories. Also Holyoke City Clerk (don't excessively 'bug em' has a good set of ehind the conter directories for use with Voter registration verification & voter registraton history checks. Springfield's genealogical Library has a microfiche collection of the older Pynchon land Registers (saves a trip to the Courthouse) If forgotton rare or special collection procedures usualy mean: A sign-in Use of pencils only Special or no photocopy rules Books are most frequently left on the tables is they are old or tehir use unsupervised directly (for -re-check in and care in re-shelving) Bindings may break or pages tear or crumble Ask permission to use 'flash' oncameras and as I will consider buyi a low-cost good resolution digital camera to substitute for photocopying and note taking (Make an image download & transcribe later) Conserve that microfilm & fiche - remember to inimize fingerprints & lift the glass pate on the reader when re-winding to minimize scratches or film breaks. ASK wthout embarrassment See if the library keeps or could use a fuller catalog of the multipally used resources. And lets use our 'library lobby' power to get tax appropriations for a good public return (also a very influential & popular one for the libraries) Ciao [On behalf of the informal ad hoc committee to reduce SNOBBY genealogy] http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/FIFAWORLDCUPKOREA http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/SCOTTMCON http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/SNOWPLOWS http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/TERRORISTSatLARGE http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/MacNeill http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/GenealogyLinks http://community.webtv.net/scottagin/fontshadowHEBRIDES Scott M Connolly ... My g-grandparents gravestone is spelled in their native language, the "L" is crossed "Stonina" appearing to be a "t", not an "L". The English translation could have been carried on in your area. According to "anywho.com" there are no other Stonina's in RI, CT, ME, NH only 1 NJ and 5 MA. That is my guess. Not many Slonina's left in RI either :( Thanks for the input, every little piece helps to make the big picture!! Kathy
