The actual title of this book is: History of the "Old High School" on School Street From 1828 to 1840. & History of the Seminary On Maple Street, Established in 1832 by Charles Wells Chapin 1890 The link is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mahampde/towns/springfield/school_hist/index.html Currently the ebay listing is way overpriced at the minimum bid of $69. I have seen this item go usually for no more than $40 - $45.

As I have already privately told her she saved me from going insane many times by finding those loose ends and helping me tie them into a neat bundle. Gonna Miss you gal...God BlessYou. 3. Hello, I'm a web page coordinator for Obituary Lookup Volunteers, which is an all-volunteer group that does obituary lookups on request. Martha M. was the only Hampden County, Mass. volunteer on our web site. While we can't ever replace her, it would be great to have another Hampden County volunteer. As many of my ancestors lived in Hampden County, 2000 miles from where I live now, it's been so helpful for me to have someone to ask for lookups. If anyone from the list is interested in volunteering, please let me know. How much you volunteer for is up to you. You choose the area you'd like to cover, and many of our volunteers also limit the number of requests and/or the number of weekends per month. More information about volunteering can be found at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~obitl/ovolun.html and our home page is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~obitl/index.html . Also, I'd be happy to answer any questions. Thank you. I found the obituary for Barbara's mother which lists Barbara as living in Wilbraham in 1981. Does anyone have access to Wilbraham Town Directories who could confirm whether she is still there. If Barbara is no longer listed, it would be helpful to confirm the latest year in which Barbara did live in Wilbraham. Thanks in advance for any advice or help. Ed O'Connor

    3. On March 24th, 2002, your local PBS station will be running this: [Chances are it will be 9pm eastcoast as its Boston based ...] This is the great Hurricane of 1938 that did so much Damage *so far inland* I remember my folks and grandfather telling about it destroying the peach/apple orchards on the Mohawk Trail - in searching found this reference to Springfield.. http://pbs.org/amex/hurricane38/ >>September 21: A devastating hurricane drives through the northeastern United States. Residents are unprepared for the storm and the flooding it brings. Over 600 people are killed, most by drowning. Another hundred are never found. Property damage is estimated at $300 million -- over 8,000 homes are destroyed, 6,000 boats wrecked or damaged. Yet the hurricane does not receive much media attention; Neville Chamberlain's appeasement of Adolf Hitler in Europe dominates headlines before and after the storm.<< OR -- go direct to this which has great historical related info along with a map of the path this destruction occurred.. Amazing.. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/hurricane38/maps/index.html It could be during this that many family records were destroyed. >>The storm traveled almost directly northward up the Connecticut River Valley, dumping copious amounts of rain especially to the westward of its track. << There is also a 'timeline' of many storms - broken into 2 1635-1935 and 1938-1996 You can get more www.pbs.org and read so much more http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/hurricane38/peopleevents/e_aftermath.html [PBS Previews is a publication of PBS Online.
