    2. >From "The Christian Patriot--some recollections of the late Col. Hugh Maxwell of Heath, Ma collected and preserved by a daughter" Hugh Maxwell was born April 27 o.s. 1733 in the town of Minterburn, county Tyrone, Ireland. His father of the same name, being a Calvinist, and disliking the established church of Ireland, determined upon removing to America. Accordingly, he took his wife and three children, the subject of this sketch being only six weeks old, and with two brothers and two sisters prepared to embark. it continues: The brothers went to the south, the sisters to New Hampshire, and Hugh settled on a hired farm in Bedford, Mass. It says that the elder Hugh died in 1759 by falling from his horse, and that 4 more children were born here. The younger Hugh is chronicled in this 144 page document, but little family information is listed. It is primarly about the war service. The author does not even give her own name. She states that when he went to war in 1775, he left seven children, the eldest daughter being 10 or 11 and the eldest son 3, with a baby a week old. Would the eldest son be another Hugh? He couldn't be married in 1785 if he were born in 1772. Sara E. Campbell, PE Consulting Civil Engineer 413-423-3581 16 Prospect Street Millers Falls, MA 01344
