I have been working on documentation to obtain my Mayflower descendant certificate for over one year on eight generations. James was born about 1779 at Barre or Oakham, MA but I have not found any information on him, his wife or children. Richmond family genealogy has him serving in the War of 1812, living in Augusta Twonship about 1815, Oneida County, NY about 1815, marrying Lois Day in 1818-1819, lived in Ontario County, NY, in 1825 living in Oxford County, Ontario Canada. He drowned on January 1, 1822, when he fell through the ice on the Grand River near Brantford, Ontario, Canada. I have searched all of the places mentioned above and they have nothing regarding land warrants, birth, death, etc., etc. Lois is believed to have been born in Oneida County, NY about 1783. She died about 1844 in Jerseyville, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada. Lois' parents are believed to be Samuel and Lois Merrick Day, both from West Springfield, MA. I have searched intensely in the records mentioned above and made numerous phone calls to the town clerk's of MA and they have nothing. I also need some more documentation on James' parents, James and Desire Gorham Richmond, daughter of Thomas & Hannah Gorham. He was born at New Braintree, MA in 1758. I need some more information on Desire regarding her death 9-18-1822-Barre, Worcester County, MA and marriage to James. Barre Town Clerk's office say they do not have a record of Desire's death record. Any help would be most appreciated. Thnks!
