(c. 1823-1829, bur. No Hadley) Sarah (c. 1824- d. 1842) Christopher (c. 1827 - d. 1831) Martha (c. 1829 - d. 1831) Mary (c. Dec. 1835 - d. 1839) Of son, John F., this record says "only son by Persis b. ca. 1840, soldier in Civil War in Co D, 27th Mass. Vol Inf killed in action at Cold Harbor, VA 3 June 1864 bur No Hadley" This Families of Amherst names two other John Russells, by the way, same page: John Russell, res of Amherst in 1835, res of Pelham in 1844 (does not name wife, but does name children Mary Elizabeth, Cloe Eliza, Lyman, Sarah Clarke and Esther) and John G. Russell, harness maker of Northampton 1844 and 1848, m. Orpha Chilson; names one daughter, Maria, b. 1844 W. Amherst. Then, in Vital Records of the Town of Greenfield, Mass., Births, page 25: "BARNES, Persis, w. Samuel Harrington, w. John Russell of North Hadley, Nov. 20, 1796 in W. Brookfield, G.R.
