    2. First Generation 1. Ella Le Mira RANNEY was born on 24 SEP 1847 in Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. Second Generation 2. Henry Sears RANNEY was born on 5 MAR 1817 in Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. He died on 23 JAN 1899. The Goodwins of Hartford, Connecticut, Descendants of William and Ozias Goodwin, Complied for James Junius Goodwin, Hartford, Conn. Published by Brown and Gross, 1891. p. 208. He was a merchant in Ashfield until 1858, and where, except three years spent in Boston, he has continued to reside. He was devoted some years to farming. A member of the Massachusetts Legislature in 1852 and 1868, one year Selectman, thirty-five years Justice of the Peace, and for more than forty years Town Clerk of Ashfield, he is thoroughly conversant with the history of his native town, and has rendered the compiler valuable aid on the records of the Ashfield branch. Henry Sears RANNEY and Maria Jane GOODWIN were married on 20 JUN 1844. 3. Maria Jane GOODWIN was born on 24 FEB 1821 in Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. She died on 14 JAN 1856. Third Generation 4. George RANNEY. George RANNEY and Achsah SEARS were married on 11 NOV 1811. 5. Achsah SEARS was born on 11 APR 1789 in Ashfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts. She died on 7 AUG 1869. 6. Anson GOODWIN was born on 20 AUG 1781 in Ashfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts. He died on 23 DEC 1871. He was by trade a shoemaker, but in the latter part of his life was a farmer, and in the winter season a peddler. Anson GOODWIN and Temperance ROGERS were married in 1803. 7. Elisha Porter's Hampshire County regiment. Paul SEARS and Eleanor SMITH were married on 25 OCT 1782 in Ashfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts. 11. Eleanor SMITH was born on 23 JUL 1760 in Ashfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts. She died on 3 AUG 1824. 12. Eldad Frances GOODWIN was born on 15 OCT 1761 in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut. He was by trade a millwright, and for many years the miller of the town of his birth, where the children of his first wife were also born. He removed to Watervliet, Albany County, New York, where he kept a hotel, and after the death of his first wife removed to Albany, where he died suddenly of heart disease, about 1827.
