Henry Sears RANNEY was born on 5 MAR 1817 in Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. He died on 23 JAN 1899. He was a merchant in Ashfield until 1858, and where, except three years spent in Boston, he has continued to reside. He was devoted some years to farming. A member of the Massachusetts Legislature in 1852 and 1868, one year Selectman, thirty-five years Justice of the Peace, and for more than forty years Town Clerk of Ashfield, he is thoroughly conversant with the history of his native town, and has rendered the compiler valuable aid on the records of the Ashfield branch. Eleanor SMITH was born on 23 JUL 1760 in Ashfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts. She died on 3 AUG 1824. 12. Eldad Frances GOODWIN was born on 15 OCT 1761 in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut.
