Historic Deerfield is pleased to announce the launch of www.deerfielddescendants.com this year, the 300th anniversary of the 1704 French and Indian raid on Deerfield. As you may know, we have been compiling information from hundreds of Deerfield Descendants across the country and Canada over the last two years. Based on what we have learned from those surveys, we are officially kicking off the Deerfield Descendant program at Historic Deerfield. To start, we are hosting 3 Deerfield Descendant Reunions this year to give you a chance to come to Deerfield and learn more about your family history and the events of 1704. This will also be a great opportunity to meet new friends and relatives, share information you have gathered and explore the town your ancestors lived in-maybe even tour the house they once lived in! The Deerfield Descendant website will be an ongoing project for us and we will continually add features that many of you have requested. We are planning on adding a chat room module so you can meet and exchange information with other descendants and we are actively digitizing documents and photos of our collections that will help you with your genealogical research. Here are the current website features: -Learn more and register for an upcoming Deerfield Descendant Reunion! Reunion dates are July 16-18, August 13-15, and September 3-5. -Become a member of the Friends of Historic Deerfield and make the most of your experiences at Deerfield! -Planning your visit information including directions to Deerfield, maps and local lodging options. -Complete our online survey and tell us more about your family connections to Deerfield. -Visit our mini-Museum Store and read about books that are of particular interest to descendants.
