Cheapside was a section of Deerfield for many years and it still exists but as a part of Greenfield. It was long a controversial section in the boundary between Deerfield and Greenfield, the shire town that separated from the mother town of Deerfield on 9 June 1753. Even afterwards it was many years before Cheapside was annexed to Greenfield on 2 May 1896. It is just north of the Deerfield boundary on the Greenfield side of the Green River. More information is available in a town history of Greenfield, The Conservative Rebel by Paul Jenkins (1982).
