Hi All, I want to let you know about 2 upcoming events that are happening at Historic Deerfield that may be of interest to you. We are holding our Deerfield Descendants Reunion on June 29 and 30. Most of the program takes place on Saturday, June 29. Your line to Deerfield doesn't have to be direct in order to attend. We welcome anyone who has an interest in Deerfield history and genealogy to attend. Please visit www.deerfielddescendants.org for schedule and registration information. Have you heard about the efforts being made to create a data base of photos and documents for each of the towns/cities in Massachusetts? It's a great project organized by UMass Boston called the Mass. Memories Road Show and it is coming to Deerfield on Sunday, July 1, 11 am - 3 pm at the White Church Community Center. Participation is free! All ages are welcome. Deerfield is the first community in western Massachusetts to participate so we hope to have as many people attend as possible! Here's how it works: You bring photos and documents that somehow illustrate when you or your family first came to or lived in Deerfield, whether recently or long ago. We will scan them and record your information about them. When they are scanned, they will be projected on a screen for all who are there to see. If you or others in your family have a story to tell, we can videotape this. The photos and documents will then be prepared for the Mass. Memories Road Show website and will be available for use by anyone - for example, educators, researchers, and school children. You can stay at the Road Show on July 1 for as long as you like to see others' photos and hear their stories. It's a great way to meet others who live or once lived in Deerfield. If you are currently a Deerfield resident, your admission to Historic Deerfield is always free and you might like to spend time that day visiting out houses or exhibitions as well.
