Dear Bonnie (and cc: list) You wrote regarding Seth Howard b.1732 in Stoughton, MA. What are your sources? And who are Seth's Hayward/Howard ancestors? Here is a long shot based on circumstantial evidence. The following two persons Lemuel Howard b.1773, later of Athol MA, m.Lydia Kelton) and Caleb Howard b.1774 (later of Deerfield MA and Conway MA, m.Anna Childs) COULD be sons of your Seth Howard b.1732, and siblings of your Nathan b.1761 in Cumberland RI, Cynthia b1762 in Cumberland RI, Frederick b.1764 in in Cumberland RI, Jesse b.1766 in Cumberland RI, Lucinda b.1767 in Cumberland RI, Mindwell b.1769 in Cumberland RI, Seth Jr. b.1772 in in Cumberland RI, Lydia b.1776 in Rowe MA, Phebe b.1777 in Rowe, Elizabeth b.1779 in Rowe, Abel b.1781 in Rowe. There are 3 pieces of circumstantial evidence: 1. This branch is geographically close to yours. Athol, Conway, Deerfield, Rowe, and Colrain (all in MA); and Windham VT are all within 20-30 miles of each other. 2. Lemuel Howard b.1773 had a daughter Lydia b.1814 in Athol, probably named after Lemuel's wife Lydia Kelton (AND possibly also Lemuel's sister Lydia b.1776 in Rowe?) 3. Caleb Howard b.1774 had a grandson Seth Childs Howard (my g-g-grandfather) b.1822 in Colrain, possibly named after Caleb's father Seth Howard b.1732, and Caleb's brother Seth Howard Jr. b.1772 in Cumberland RI? Attached is a PDF file showing descendants of Caleb Howard b.1774. For sources and further information see http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=dm_howard2 In my Rootsweb file, based on locale and given names of descendants, Lemuel b.1773 and Caleb b.1774 were ASSUMED to be brothers, and grandsons of Ezekial Hayward b.1703, but PROOF IS LACKING. The ancestry of Lemuel Howard b.1773 and Caleb Howard (my 4th-g-grandfather) b.1774, IS UNKNOWN.
