Dear Sir/Madam: I have checked the CD set for the three western counties, and found the following only. In Buckland there were only four men mentioned as fathers of Jones children. Alfred, Samuel, Bidkar, and David White Taylor (Jones), himself son of Bidkar, born 5 Mar 1796. A marriage intent is published in Buckland (pages 80 & 92) for William Jones and Phebe Dodge, date 25 Oct 1796, in which she is identified as "of Guilford," but a pursuit of records in that town was fruitless. A search of all three counties showed no birth for a Phebe Dodge nor a marriage to anyone by that name to anyone of any other name, much less to a Jones. I'm sorry that this source has not been of more help. I have no idea where they might have been married if not at Guilford or Buckland, but it seems not to have been in any of the three western counties. Happy Hunting! Allan E. Green
Hi A few years ago, my daughter and I did a driving trip through upper MA, lower VT, to try to verify some records. The reason we couldn't find them in MA was because they were in Guilford, VT, just across the border. Thanks for replies. The Buckland find of the int. between William Jones and Phebe Dodge of Guilford is revealing. The marriage I seek is between William Jones of Buckland and Phebe Brown of Guilford. I know Phebe Brown was married to a Jones by 1813 (her mother's will) and had a lead that it was to a William of Buckland. Perhaps she married a Dodge first, unless a transcription problem. I have no birth for her, but that she was daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Brown of Guilford (another set of problems). Back to the drwaing board.
