    3. I'm certain that Abigail Spinning, granddaughter of Isaac Spinning is related to Sarah Spinning. It would probably take quite a while to figure exactly how they are related. Records I have show that Isaac (not Ira) Spinning, b. abt. 1774 in Elizabethtown, NJ married Christine Higgins abt. 1798; she was b. in England and died at 90 yrs of age. Abigail was the daughter of Joseph S. (son of Isaac above). Joseph was born 12 Sept 1805 in Shelby, NY. Abigail Marie S. was born 27 Nov 1830 in NY and married Abraham Eaton 24 Feb 1850 in Tompkins, MI. He was a ship carpenter and settled in Medford, Nova Scotia. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cindy Cairns" <cindy@pshift.com> To: <MAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com>; <your_friend@adelphia.net> Sent: Wednesday, February 07, 2007 11:18 AM Subject: [MAFRANKL] Surname Spinning > This question is in response to posting dated 1/20/2007, "I understand he > (Luther Washburn)was born in Ashfield, MA, 1756 and married Sarah Spinning > 1 July 1779 in Ashfield." > > I know this is a long shot and that North Adams is not in Franklin county. > Please humor me. > > > Does anyone have additional info on the surname Spinning to know if Sarah > is related to Ira below?? 3. Hi Everyone I have been doing genealogy for a long time and had put my Irish lines away a few years ago. Well, I have them out again and am joining this list in hopes of finding some help. Here are the lines I am working on. BAXTER, OBRIEN, CRONIN, CASHMAN, REILLY, COUGHLIN, MCMAHON, MCAULIFFE, WALSH, GOREY, DORSEY BAXTER, PATRICK AND HANNAH OBRIEN MY GRT GRANDPARENTS I do have the Baxters back into the early 1820s in Drumboy, Leitrim Co. Ireland Partick came over in the early 1880s and married Hannah in the 1890s. Hannah died in the early 1910s and Patrick died in the 1920s. They resided at 37 Ginnell St. in Greenfield for most of their married life and until Patrick died. Patrick was born to Patrick and Bridget REILLY BAXTER in the 1820s in above mentioned place. He had a brother John who was the oldest and came over to MA too. I believe John BAXTER is living with a MICHAEL DORSEY Family in Montague in 1880 and am trying to figure out if Michaels wife is actually Catherine REILLY who would be a relative. Also there is a Frank Rutly listed with them and I think this might be a Frank REILLY also a relative who possibly came over with John. Really would like to find connections to my REILLY side as I havent been able to go back past 1845 on them. OBRIEN, WILLIAM S. AND HANNAH CRONIN MY GRT GRT GRANDPARENTS William and Hannah had my above mentioned grt grandmother Hannah. They also had Mary, Ellen/Ella M., Lizabeth, Margaret, Sarah, Clara, and John P. that died at age 20. All of these children were born in the 1860s and 1870s. This family resided in Deerfield. William who was born in Ireland was the son of John who was born in 1805 in Cloyn, Co. Cork, Ireland. Hannah was the daughter of John and Ellen CASHMAN CRONIN who I believe resided in Chicopee, Hampden Co. MA. William had sisters, three that I know of , Mary OBRIEN MCMAHON wife of Daniel, Margaret OBRIEN MCAULIFFE wife of Dennis wih two children Daniel 15 and Ellen 11 in 1880, one more that I only know the surname and that being COUGHLIN as there are nieces and nephews listed in Marys will as Mary, John and Edward COUGHLIN in 1911 living at 79 Lowell St. Merrick. There are possibly more siblings and thats why I joined this list. Now as for William OBriens children, Mary I havent been able to find out about yet. Ella married William E. GOREY son of Patrick and Bridget GOREY. Ella and William had Robert, Walter, Hannah Agnes, Marian, Lillian, Harold and resided in Deerfield. Sarah and Clara married WALSH brothers both sons of Michael and Mary of Sunderland. Sarah married Thomas WALSH and had Ronald and Sylvester. Clara married Frederick WALSH and had Frederick H., Leo, Mildred, Raymond, Robert. Both families resided and remained in Sunderland. Lizabeth and Margaret OBRIEN I believe never married and John died at age 20. According to census records Hannah and William OBRIEN had one more child but I havent been able to find out anything on it. Well this is alot of information but hopefully someone will recognize something. Denise in Iowa

Oct. 11, 1898, in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, USA; m. circa 1840, in Bohemia, Marie Bily, dau. of Jan and Anna (Hrista) Bily. She was b. in Bohemia circa 1817, and d. Oct. 11, 1902, in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, USA. Josef and Marie Sulda spent the first fifty or more years of their lives in Bohemia, in or near the small town of Klatovy in western Bohemia, where Josef worked as a farmer. According to the 1900 U.S. federal census, Marie Sulda gave birth to twelve children, two of whom probably died in childhood. The surviving ten children lived to adulthood and eventually came to the United States with their parents. In the autumn of 1869, Josef and Marie and seven of their children emigrated to the United States, arriving at the port of New York City on board the S.S. Main on Nov. 15, 1869. Their three other children either preceded their parents to the U.S. or came shortly thereafter. The entire family settled in the village of Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Josef was employed at the John Russell Cutlery in Turners Falls for over twenty-five years. They lived in the Third Street block, owned by the cutlery, in Turners Falls. Josef’s obituary, printed in the Turners Falls Reporter, dated Oct. 19, 1898, reads as follows: “Death of Joseph Schulda, Sr. -- On Wednesday last, Joseph Schulda, a very much respected Bohemian citizen, passed away at the ripe age of 89 years. He had been a citizen of the village for many years, and was the leader of his countrymen here. He was a dignified old gentleman with courteous manners, and had the respect of all who knew him. His funeral was held Friday from St. Mary’s Church and was largely attended. He leaves a large family of grown up children and many grandchildren.” Marie (Bily) Sulda survived her husband by exactly four years to the day. Her obituary in the Turners Falls Reporter, dated Oct. 15, 1902, reads as follows: “Mrs. Mary Sulda, widow of the late Joseph Sulda, died at her home on Third Street, Saturday, at the age of 85 years. She had been in excellent health up to a short time before her death. Mrs. Sulda was the mother of a large family, several sons and a daughter, Mrs. Mathias Brokup, surviving her, beside a number of grandchildren. The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Church on Monday, and was largely attended.” CHILDREN (b. in Bohemia) I. Anna Sulda (Anna), b. Aug. 1844 or Aug. 1845; d. Sept. 5, 1914, in Turners Falls; m. The problem is that the cemetery is located deep in the state forest and is not on any road. The traditional access was through an old overgrown barnyard that ran past a cellar hole and large barn foundation. To the rear of the yard an old trail heads down a steep bank to a brook. This portion of the route has been severely washed out for years and is not practical to repair. The cemetery is across the brook and nearly 1000' further along. I studied the topographic maps of the area and plotted out a new route coming in from Royalston. After numerous trips, I settled on a fairly level access trail route from Royalston. The trail was marked and the State Forest contacted for permission to cut the trail. The trail has been cut with the help of the District Court Community Service workers. The cemetery itself was very overgrown and has now been partially cleared. There is quite a bit more work remaining to be done. I have attached photos of the cemetery before clearing as well as photos of Mary Moses' parents stones. According to the most recent published history of Warwick, many of the original stones in the cemetery were destroyed over the years from falling trees. The most recent resident of the area, a Mr. Alexander - I believe, took it upon himself to keep up the area and even carved out replacement stones for many of the graves. I believe that Mr. Alexander died in the 1960's and no one has lived anywhere near there since. Sara E. Campbell,
