Go to www.google.com and search for "Perpetual Calendar." You will find several. Yes, he is a second cousin (once removed) but I have never met him. >Now there's an uncommon name. Are you related to Peter Zschau >of Millers >Falls? My neighbor was a good friend of his mother. >
Thanks John, Every little bit helps. By putting together pieces of info, I'm getting a profile of Josiah's life. The more information I get on little items, the more I can establish a place/time line on his life, and hopefully will find out who his parents were, and what happened to the 4 children born between 1794-1800. What was a seemingly impossible task a couple of years ago appears to be attainable. Any info you come across will always be welcome. Thanks, Cliff
I saw a history of the Springfield diocese at an antique book store, and have been regretting not buying it ever since. Wonder if it's still there... Sacred Heart Church is in Cheapside, but I'm not sure how old it is. I think Holy Trinity is the oldest in town. The pastor at Sacred Heart is the same priest as at St. Mary's in Turners Falls.
Now there's an uncommon name. Are you related to Peter Zschau of Millers Falls? My neighbor was a good friend of his mother.
Sara, Maybe this has been mentioned before and I just didn't register that fact, but there's a great service at www.bookfinder.com that represents a network of used bookstores. Together, they have a huge collection of used and rare books that can be shipped to you. Might be worth a look. This is a good perpetual calendar. It allows you to put in Mo. and yr, and see the day of the week. http://www.wiskit.com/calendar.html Donna Finnerty Rhyne Raleigh, NC Searching for Finnerty, Garvin, Mathewson, Gunn, Ballard, Dwyer, Connery, and Tobin in New England; Rhyne, Brandt, Horton, Fitzpatrick, Lamothe, Crellin, and McCormick in LA, MS, GA, and NC
What Roman Catholic Churches existed in and around the town of Greenfield, Mass. during the years 1869-1878? I am seeking the baptisms for my Zschau family who lived in Greenfield between the years 1869 and 1878. I contacted the office manager at Holy Trinity Parish in Greenfield and she suggested I contact St. Mary of the Assumption in Northampton, Mass. Does this sound like the next logical place to look given the fact that my family lived in Greenfield (probably Cheapside) during the time? I have previously located the records from post 1878 when they were living in Montague at St. Mary's in Turners Falls. Not sure where to write next. Any suggestions? Regards, Nancy
Hannah Crittenden was b. May 2, 1775, in Ashfield the dau. of Isaac Crittenden and Phebe Foster. on April 1, 1793, Hannah married Josiah Cobb in Ashfield. About 1800 they probably moved to Buckland. By 1812, they had 7 known children born (1800,1810Census's, Buckland,1820Census Clarkson, NY.). In 1814, Josiah married Phebe Shaw b. May 22, 1784 in Taunton, dau. of Benjamin Shaw and Sarah Richmond. Apparently Hannah must have died between 1812 and 1814. I would assume she would have been buried in Buckland or Ashfield. Is there any way I can access Town, Church, and Cemetary records for that 1812-14 period, or have a lookup? Thanks Cliff Cobb

The 1790 census for Hampshire County (includes the newer counties of Hampden and Franklin) is now at my web site. Spelling errors on the word census have also been corrected when moved from the old location. In 1790 this was the most populated county in MA, and the little town of Granville had the most population on the County. How things have changed over the years. Location http://www.rays-place.com Just click on the census section, than Hampshire County and you will be there. With recient additions the web site is now over 900 pages so I broke the index page into smaller ones for each section of the web site, census, cemeteries, marriage records, vital records by town, Ect. If you have not visited lately why not take a look at all the additions. Cheers Ray Brown
