Is anyone on this list researching the surname Rupton in New Salem, MA? I just received a marriage record for my fourth great grandfathers sister Hannah King who has married Timothy Rupton in 1767. I am interested in the cemeteries of and around Shutesbury, Franklin County, MA. The following is an explanation of what I know so far. My fifth great grandfather is William King son of Jonathan and Sarah (Cooke) King and was born at Salem or Sutton MA about 1710. He was married to Hannah Mitchell and together they had two known children Hanna who married an UPTON at New Salem in 1741 and William born about 1743. Hannah wrote that her father brought his family to New Salem in 1755 to live with his sister and brother-in-law (Abigale and Amos Foster). She states that it was there that her brother Amos was born in 1756 followed by Jonathan and Sarah. She goes on to say that Stephen was born in 1761 at Shutesbury. I do not know anything about the descendants of any of the children except Amos who is my fourth great grandfather. Hannah says that her father returned to New Salem some years later a widower and once again lived in the Foster household. I would like to find the cemetery where his wife is buried and his grave also if possible. It is thought that he might have remarried only because of the time frame of 13 years between the birth of William and Amos but that is not a proven fact. We do know that his second wife if he remarried is not Mary Andrews the daughter of Captain Nathaniel and Mary (Higginson) Andrews as this Mary Andrews was married to another William King son of Samuel and Elizabeth King and could be my William's cousin. Thanks in advance for your input. If you cannot provide any help could you suggest someone who can? -- Daniel David Lewis Frommherz Come visit my web site www.McKenzieValleyMarket.com please write and tell me what you think of it.
