    1. ELIZABETH COOK
    2. Renne M Blocker
    3. Hello Listers: My gggggrandmother ELIZABETH COOK married GEORGE RENIFF in 1798, Buckland. Their intentions were published for Sep 1798 and they married Oct 1798. The actual marriage license burned. I have a lot of information on the Reniff family but none on Elizabeth COOK'S family. The marriage intention said that ELIZABETH COOK and GEORGE RENIFF were both "of Buckland." There are over 10,000 ancestrial files on ELIZABETH COOK, a very common name obviously. I believe the most likely candidate for the Elizabeth COOK that married George RENIFF is one I found that was b 16 Oct 1774 in Worcester, MA. She was born to Robert COOK and ELIZABETH PARKER. There are tons of Robert COOK and ELIZABETH PARKER ancestrial files also. I think that perhaps Elizabeth COOK may have been born in Worcester but then moved later on to Buckland, Ma. Because the names COOK and PARKER are so common I am having a hard time finding any concrete proof of who Elizabeth COOK'S parents are. I know from talking to Janice, the Town Clerk, that the records of Buckland burned so I have little to go on. The HISTORY OF BUCKLAND does list the marriage of Elizabeth COOK and George RENIFF and their children and some land they bought in Conway but I don't know if it has any further information on the family(parents and siblings) of the Elizabeth COOK that married George RENIFF. Any help will be greatly appreciated as always. Renné Blocker ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! 3. Paul Allred has been a great help in providing records to help me figure out some of my questionable transcriptions on Warwick, and is now being taken full advantage of by me to assist with the Shutesbury records that I just finished typing (be sure to thank him also if you find anything good in these). I have one total stumper, the entry is weak and blurred and I can't get anything really definite but the date, maybe someone else of this line will be able to figure it out (I'm amazed at what I can get Brooks out of just because I know the line): Jonathan Piliker/Biliker/Pritcher... son to William and Mercy/Mary? was born July 29, 1777 in Warwick. Any ideas? Thank you. Maura Amrich [email protected]

    1. Warwick and Shutesbury records
    2. M&M
    3. Hello All: I have received many responses and answered the first batch, first response was from Paul Allred who I sent the Warwick transcriptions to. He has sent me some good info and helped verify some of the unclear names with info he had, and well, looks like I've done pretty well, so the docs should be of use to others. Hope someone finds something really good in this stuff! Paul has offered to type my notes for Shutesbury, as have some others, we are all so starved for these early records, the problem is that you haven't seen MY writing! Better off for me to do it, although I really appreciate the offer, only because it minimizes any mistakes from those trying to read my scratch. I have sent Warwick to all who ask and will work on the Shutesbury and get that to Paul so he can see if he can assist with the tough names, and then send that to everyone else who has asked. Won't be too long, but need to get back into bed for now. What I will do is continue to send Warwick to all who ask (and do quick look-ups for Shutesbury for those who can't wait-we all understand what it's like on those brick walls), and then I'll post to this site when Shutesbury is done, and I'll send to all who have asked, if you don't get a copy within a week of that post, ask again, based on the response so far, seems there is much interest. 1. Have some old Warwick and Shutesbury Vitals
    2. M&M
    3. Hello all: I went to MA Archives for some info and discovered they have the Holbrook Collection for Shutesbury 1746-1890 and Warwick 1739-1890, both places and times with ancestral dead ends for me (found one!). The pages are extremely hard to read both because of poor copies and because of flowery old script where letters and numbers don't look like they should. Have about 10 pages that I printed for Warwick and 20 for Shutesbury for names I was looking for. Have finished transcribing Warwick as best I can and typed to a word doc, finished transcribing Shutesbury but now need to type onto a word doc. Unfortunately fell down my cellar stairs yesterday and can't sit for very long at computer, and may not be able to do so for a while yet, but if anyone is interested in seeing what else is on these pages, I will gladly attach a word doc to you for Warwick, I can do specific look-ups for Shutesbury for now, and just attach the word doc later when it's done-so you can double check, which may take a while. Please do remember that I have done my best but could be pretty far off, so if something on the word doc looks like it COULD be something you want, just write back and ask if it is possible it is something else, sometimes you can get these things right only because you found the name on the index (which I only looked up for the names I wanted, not the rest of page), or know what name/record it is in advance. Hopefully this will be of help to someone, again bear with me while I recover, I'll get to each of you (am trying to bribe one of my children to type Shutesbury for me). Augustine Washington PHILLIPS was born on 22 Mar 1823 in Buckland, Franklin, Massachusetts. He died on 27 May 1899 in Buckland, Franklin, Massachusetts. He was buried in Buckland Upper City Cemetery, Buckland, , Massachusetts. Source: A narrative report by Ethel Cranson Smith Augustine was probably working on Joshua Cranson's farm, although from Ethel Cranson Smith's narative, old Joshua sounded like a grumpy old "pinch-penny", and spent most of his time fox & coon hunting. She says, " Joshua was never known for his love of work, but when he was a young lad he liked to wrestle and was pretty good at it. In the summer, until he has 21, Harlan Cranson was hired out by his father Joshua to other farmers, and Joshua kept all the pay (which he was entitled to do, by law). Augustine Phillips got his room & board, and not much else. Augustine was probably working on Joshua Cranson's farm. He was actually counted in Forrest Cranson's household (Joshua's father). Besides farming, Forrest was a woodworker, making such things as ax handles and wheelbarrows. Forrest was injured in the War of 1812, and was quite lame. Ethel Cranson Smith said rocking chairs made him dizzy, so the rockers were cut off the chairs. Josh & Liddy started keeping house up on the old Brackett lot, in Buckland Upper City, where their first child was born. But Joshua (barely 20) took down the house and moved it onto the bank of the Clesson's River, where he also operated a "turning shop" for making broom handles. So besides farming, Augustine Phillips might have been doing woodworking for Forrest, or with Joshua. 1. Brooks/Carpenter/Jones/Potter/Kelton/Newcomb/Mowry
    2. M&M
    3. New to list, above in subject are my main name interests for this area: Am looking for verification of some vitals provided by others to genealogy sites, if anyone has this info, either agreeing or disagreeing, I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you: Birth of: Elizabeth Kelton on 4/23/1779 in Warwick, MA Her parents should be Benjamin Kelton b. 5/19/1755, Rehoboth, MA and Elizabeth Hale b. 7/12/1756, Swansea, MA Marriage of: Elizabeth Kelton to Joseph Potter on 4/5/1801 in Leyden, MA, he b. abt 1775 in Warwick, nothing else is known about him, but Potter's show up in both Swansea, Rehoboth and RI just before this time, so they also probably came from that area. Birth of: Eliza Potter to above Joseph and Elizabeth, she b. abt 1808, probably Leyden. Need to verify date and parents. ............................................................................ ...... Additional info on this line and so you know who I'm connected to if you think I may have info you are looking for, or have info for me: My GGG GF Duane Brooks, b. Leyden 1853 is the son of Jonathon Brooks, Colrain 1827, and Mary Carpenter 1834, have line down pretty well from there. Jonathon is son of Salmon Brooks (b. abt 1795) and Hannah Jones, both were b. Shutesbury, they married 1823 in Montague, nothing else is known about them at this time. The Brooks' are supposed to have arrived in Watertown 1636, and have been in Deerfield for the Massacre, so we have a good idea exactly who we connect to, but there are a couple of generations gap to bring it together. (Mary Carpenter's sister Sarah married her husband Jonathon's twin, Josiah Brooks, and her brother Joseph married their sister Harriet Brooks) Mary Carpenter is the daughter of Eliza Potter and Jotham Orlander Carpenter, of the Rehoboth Carpenter's. Eliza is supposed to be the daughter of Joseph Potter and Elizabeth Kelton as mentioned above. Jotham Orlander Carpenter's mother was a Newcomb. The Mowry's are cousins of the Carpenter's. If these above records which I am seeking to verify are right, Elizabeth Kelton is a great granddaughter of some number to 4 Mayflower Pilgrims, which means I had two 11th G GP and two 12th G GP on the boat, so I'm anxious to verify these records. Thank you for any help you can give me, hope I can do the same for someone out there, it just doesn't work as well if we don't share, so feel free to pick the brain of this new member if you have these names in your family.
