The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Saturday, January 26, 1905 WM. VINCENT died at the home of his daughter, MRS. ELIZABETH COLVER, five miles west of Chariton, on the morning of January 19th at 4 o'clock a.m. WM. VINCENT was born in Madison County, Kentucky, December 20, 1817. When young he emigrated to the State of Indiana. December 28, 1837, he was married to JULIA ANN CORNELIOUS. To this union were born thirteen children, six girls and seven boys; one dying in infancy. The rest lived to be grown. Of the five boys and three girls still surviving are: MELTON, VENUS, THEOPELUS, and JOHN of Lacona; JAMES of Ackworth; MALINDA ROBISON and MRS. BARBARA HANSON of Des Moines and MRS. LIZZIE COLVER of Chariton, all of which were present at the funeral. In an early day he moved with his family to Missouri and from there to Cedar County until1876 when he then moved to Warren County near Lacona, where he resided until after the death of his wife twelve years ago. Since that time he has made his home with his children, coming on the 3d of last July for a visit with his daughter, MRS. COLVER. On January 18th he dropped into a sleep from which he never awakened. When a young man he united with the Primitive Baptist Church, of which he remained a member until the time of his death. The remains were taken to Lacona the following day where the funeral services were held at the church, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Young.
